Hi <<First Name>>

The mid-way point in the year and everyone is busier than ever. Nevertheless, we hope you take some time out to read the articles we've included this month.

Additions to our team:
We recently welcomed Helen Brosnan to our admin team, and this month sees another new staff member join us. Mumin graduated in 2015 with a Masters degree in electrical and electronic engineering, and is looking forward to widening his skills base with the variety of control systems that we work with at IEL.

In this issue:
  • Some simple, inexpensive ideas to create a 'smarter home';
  • Tunable white LEDs;
  • 'State of the Art' automated pool cover!
  • See these amazing robots with a different use of sensor technology;
  • Feature product: a DALI touchpanel that we think is pretty cool!
  • Our featured project is Lemonwood Grove School in Christchurch where dali universe will provide fully functional but cost effective lighting control.
To finish on a laugh, our 'final funny' takes a light-hearted look at Tech Support!

Kind regards

Smarter Home On The Cheap!

Homeowners often think if they own an older home, they are stuck with yesterday’s technology. This is not the case. You may not be building a new home but it doesn’t mean you can’t add some affordable ‘smarts’ to make life a little easier! Read more

Wow!
We are often asked to automate pool covers - but we've never come across one like this! Click to view.

Tunable White LEDs!

Last month we featured a 'two-minute explainer' from Lux Review about circadian rhythms.
We follow up this month with another Lux Review link that provides some simple insights into tunable white LEDs and the photo-biological research behind all the hype. View article.
Sensing the Future!
Atlas, The Next Generation
Click on image to view this pretty amazing Atlas 'robot' in action!
It uses sensors to balance and to avoid obstacles, assess the terrain, help with navigation and manipulate objects.
This version of Atlas is about 5' 9" tall and weighs around 80kg.

Featured Project

Lemonwood Grove School, Christchurch

Lemonwood Grove SchoolThis new primary school in Christchurch is due to open Jan 2017 for students from years 1-8.
Intelligent Environments Ltd (IEL) are experienced is designing and supplying various types of control for school lighting systems.
For this project a full lighting control system was unnecessary as desired functionality could be achieved via DALI universe control i.e using dali parameters within the drivers and the dali mechs. This has enabled the controls the school required but at a cost effective price to remain within budget.
