President's Message

The Women of Reform Judaism International Board of Directors recently met in at OSRUI Camp near for Oconomowoc, Wisconsin for the annual meeting and what a special weekend we had. Shabbat services together, camp meals in the dining hall, spirited discussions about individual WRJ memberships and of course Mah Jongg and conversations in the evening.

The Southwest District was well represented with fourteen women attending from our district, including our own Susan Bass, the 1st Vice-president of Women of Reform Judaism. We raised money for the YES Fund by participating in the “Broad Walk”, a casual walk around the camp with the distance walked determined by each participant. Some chose to support the walkers at the end of the course and they had fun too.

The District President’s Conference was also held prior to the Board Meeting. The current president and 1st V.P attend; so Laurel Fisher and I met in Milwaukee and rode the bus to camp. Three minute reports were given, leadership training was done and money was raised for the YES Fund via an auction of Trinkets and Treasures, a very easy and fun event for all.

Planning is also continuing for the Southwest District Convention in Memphis, Tennessee in November 10th – 13th, later this year. Please mark your calendars and budget for convention when you have your budget meetings this spring.

I also want to welcome all of the new Sisterhood Presidents who are being installed this spring.   Please remember that you have an Area Director from the District who is here to answer any questions or assist you in any way.   Your Area Director will be contacting you soon, so have those questions ready when she calls.

Please enjoy the pictures from the WRJ Board meeting and be proud of the women on this board who all help to keep WRJ “Stronger Together”.
