Building Strong Team Members

Dear <<First Name>>,

What sets excellent teams apart from those that are just good? Excellent team members.

The right team members can make a team good, great or exceptional. They give a team collective power that can be unmatched.

So, what do you need to do make yourself an exceptional team member? Here are seven ways to get you started.
Seven Ways to Stand Out As An Exceptional Team Member
1. Be a Collaborator
When you're a collaborator you work to understand you teammates’ point of view. You go above and beyond the minimum of work. You open and share good ideas, and keep information flowing.
 2. Be an Innovator
Innovators know how to connect dots to discover the big picture.  As an innovator you think outside the box and sometimes even remove the box altogether. You strive to continually make improvements.
3. Be an Influencer
Influencers have an optimistic attitude.  They seek to build and foster relationships on the team. When you're an innovator, you can be a catalyst for change, especially when your team is evolving.
 4. Be a Motivator
Motivators offer praise, encouragement and support to build up the team.  As a motivator, you cultivate camaraderie with your team members.
 5.  Be a Problem Solver
When you're a problem solver, you are part of the solution and not the problem. You look for solutions instead of blaming other people.
 6.  Accept Constructive Feedback
As a strong team member, you accept feedback with an open mind. You understand that feedback provides an opportunity to improve performance.
 7. Continually Upskill
Strong team members keep a learning mindset, looking for ways to expand their skills through learning and development. When you are open to learn and grow, you continually add value to your team.

Sharpening Your Team's Performance Skills
Developing Emotionally Intelligent team members
The key difference between a good team and a great team lies in the Emotional Intelligence (EI) of its members.  EI is a widely recognized, powerful tool. It’s the ability to recognize your feelings and work with them intelligently, and to do the same with others on your team.  EI helps a team work effectively together. Members learn how to be aware of each other’s emotions and how to work with them at the group level.
Schedule an EI workshop to learn how your team can reap the benefits of emotionally intelligent members.  Contact Brenda at brenda@bwmconsultingusa.com or 866.233.1570 for more information.
