FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (6/3/16):

HOUSE DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS MOURNS BLUE ANGELS PILOT

NASHVILLE- The House Democratic Caucus today called the death of a Blue Angels pilot who lost his life in a plane crash near Smyrna, TN “tragic”.  Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss was killed Thursday afternoon when his jet crashed while rehearsing for this weekend’s Great Tennessee Airshow in Smyrna.  It appears that Capt. Kuss apparently guided his plane into a wooded area in order to keep it from crashing into a large apartment complex.  The 32-year-old pilot from Durango, Colorado had served in Afghanistan before joining the Blue Angels.  Capt. Kuss leaves behind a wife and two children.

“This is so tragic”, House Minority Leader Craig Fitzhugh said. “Our thoughts are with the family of Capt. Kuss and his team.”

Representative Kevin Dunlap of Rock Island added, “Capt. Kuss was an American hero and we join in with the Navy, the people of Smyrna and the rest of the country in morning his loss”.
