SIPA Alumni Directory Now Available to Students!

Have you heard about the new SIPA Alumni Directory? Students can now search and initiate contact with alumni based on region, field of study or work, and a variety of other criteria. It is a great tool to connect with SIPA alumni around the work and we hope you will find it useful in your networking efforts! The directory is available for current SIPA students and alumni.

With the database students can:
  • Identify alumni in your preferred career field.
  • Prioritize those with whom you share common interests or backgrounds.
  • Email the alumnus/a to request an informational interview.
  • Ask questions that will help you understand the field/job/organization and more!
To ensure that SIPA alumni can continue to be a resource for students, please follow these rules when using the SIPA Alumni Directory.  Please be aware that students who do not follow these guidelines or misuse the directory will lose access.
Class of 2017 - Update Your Resumes by July 10, 2016 for the Resume Books

In a continuing effort to maintain the professionalism of SIPA in the eyes of employers, the Office of Career Services (OCS) has standardized a resume format that must be used for all SIPA recruitment activities, job applications through SIPAlink, and inclusion in the SIPA resume book(s) of your choice.  OCS will be compiling resume books for students based on their Concentration/Program, as well as on their interest in working in Finance, Consulting, and Energy.

These resume books will serve as a tool for marketing SIPA students to employers.  They will be available to employers who request them and they will also be sent to potential employers as part of the Employer Relations team’s outreach efforts.

You will be receiving an email in late May with instructions on how to use the Resume Creator in SIPAlink, the steps you need to take to have your resume included, and how to submit your updated resume.  Stay tuned!

Did you know OCS has hired SIPA alumni to serve as career coaches for current students? These alumni are experts in a variety of industries and can offer guidance to students who are contemplating various career choices or are seeking information about their field of interest. The SIPA Career Coaching (SIPACC) Program serves as a complement to services already offered by OCS. Students should schedule general appointments with OCS career advisers, and meet with SIPA career coaches for sector-specific information.

The SIPA career coaches are not recruiters; thus, you should not ask them for jobs. However, you may ask for industry-specific information, current trends in the field, advice about entry into a particular field, and other specific questions related to your job search.
