Beaumont Blast 6/12/16

FOURTH GRADE PROMOTION -
JUNE 15, WED., 9:30AM

The Fourth Grade Promotion ceremony is on Wednesday, June 15, at 9:30am in the Cafeteria. Parents and grandparents are invited to attend, but seating is limited. Beaumont siblings are NOT permitted to attend per school policy. Students should dress nicely for graduation. There will be a brief reception in the classrooms immediately following the ceremony. Afterwards, families will leave and students will enjoy a luncheon/party in the Gym and Cafeteria, with food provided. Children with a special diet should bring their own lunch. Best wishes to all the Fourth Graders. Beaumont will miss you! Thank you to 4th Grade Teachers, Mrs. Bernadette Kearns, Mr. Pete Ricci, Mrs. Alex Thompson, and Mrs. Kristin Weinrich, for preparing the students for middle school.
THANK YOU...
Thank you to the outgoing HSA Board Members for all their work and dedication, not only to the Board but all their multiple volunteer efforts for Beaumont throughout the years: Melissa Park, Autumn O'Reilly, Leah LeComte, and Claudette McCarron.

A special thanks to the Mrs. Melissa McConaghy (PE Teacher) for planning the Field Days last week. Mrs. McConaghy was amazing with her flexibility to plan around unpredictable weather and gathered Grades 1 - 4 together for a fun morning before the storm. Thank you to Mr. Joe Perkins (Custodian), 4th Graders who led the activities for Grades 1 - 3, 3rd Graders who led Kindergarten Field Day, and parents for volunteering to help. Follow link to view photos taken by Claudette McCarron.

VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES
A note from Principal Dr. Stephanie Demming
Dear Beaumont Families,
Beaumont truly values its volunteers, and they support a variety of school programs and events. The District has revised the policies and regulations related to volunteer clearances in relation to current state law. Here is the District's regulation #1300 "Volunteers". In this regulation, you will find many details about the parameters for which types of volunteers need to have clearances on file and which do not.

In summary:
• At the elementary level, all field trip chaperones/volunteers will need to have their clearances on file.
• Generally, classroom party or classroom volunteers do NOT need to have clearances.
• No clearances are required for volunteers at HSA/PTO events or programs.

Again, please see the attachment and the link to the T/E Human Resources Department for more information and how to send in your clearances.

SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE
The last day of school for Kindergarten is on Wednesday, June 15. The last day of school for Grades 1 - 4 is on Thursday, June 16, which will follow a Half Day schedule: 8:45am - 12:20pm. Enjoy the summer and we will see returning students (Grades 1 - 4) on August 29, 2016, when the 2016 - 2017 school year begins. Kindergarten will start on September 6, 2016. Plan ahead by printing TESD's Calendar.

FINAL BLAST OF THE YEAR
Hello all-- I'm Claudette McCarron, HSA VP of Communications. This is officially my 41st and final Blast of the year (not counting all the Special Blasts in between). Many of you may not have realized that I have been writing the Blasts or that a parent volunteer writes it. Thank you for reading the weekly e-newsletter, which reaches over 550 subscribers including BES staff and teachers. I hope you enjoyed the enhancements I initiated including a redesign of the Blast, the links to photos from events, learning more about BES Staff and Teachers, as well as the new design for the HSA Website. Valerie Cheng will be taking over as the new VP of Communications and the Beaumont Blast in the fall, but I will continue with the BES Staff/Teacher Profiles and update the HSA Website. You can email either one of us at besblast@gmail.com. Thank you to Mrs. Lisa Toland (Secretary) for the monthly school calendars and providing important school notices and documents.

RETURN ALL LIBRARY BOOKS
A note from Beaumont Librarian, Mrs. Porsche Davis-Taylor: Please return all library books. To encourage students to have all of their books returned, they will have an opportunity to win a Barnes and Noble gift card. Once a student has returned all of their books, they will write their name on a ticket and put it in the jar that corresponds to their grade. On Monday, June 13, one ticket will be chosen from each jar and that student will win a gift card. For questions, contact Mrs. Taylor.

WEAR NEON ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - JUNE 16
The LAST Spirit Day of the school year will be Wacky Tacky Neon Day on Thursday, June 16. Wear the brightest colors you can find.

MATH RESOURCES
Students should have received a Summer Math Packet in their backpacks. We know that you are busy over the summer, but Mrs. Trish Plunkett (Math Support) recommends that children work on a few pages per chapter or lesson to ensure that math facts are not forgotten. View presentation given by Mrs. Plunkett for tips on summer math and visit her Teacher Page for links to other math resources.

READING RESOURCES
Mrs. Amy Romani (Reading Specialist) shared essential tips on how parents can help children stay interested in reading over the summer. View presentation given by Mrs. Romani for tips on summer reading and visit her Teacher Page for links to other reading resources. In addition, visit the HSA website to download issues of Reading Connections, which BES has a paid subscription.
