The Power of The Media - How Did Trump...

Trump controls his personal narrative...

Love him or hate him. Trump doesn’t care. He concentrates his focus on controlling the media (narrative) and knocking his opponents off their game. If you think this isn’t all planned out? You are wrong.

His opponents (and Super PACs) were spending tens of millions of dollars on negative ads, but it didn’t matter. Trump controls the story line. Even the stories bashing Trump just filled the airways with more Trump coverage.

Trump hasn’t had to pay for ads. He gets the prime airtime free, while the rest pay for 30 second snippets.

That is the power of the media. Trump says something. The media reacts. The talking heads are all talking Trump. His name is everywhere. At the beginning, everyone said he was a joke and stood ZERO chance at winning the Republican nomination.

And thus, this brings me to the Power of The Media. (And why I am building a media company built upon trust. Trust that must be earned and cannot be abused.)

If you have a message and can get that message to the public, you can gain and build a reputation and a following.

Are you a small business owner trying to grow your business? Or, are you an entrepreneur trying to launch a new brand?

That is part of why I started the The Sea-Town Podcast | Magazine.

Tim Ferriss, considered the Oprah of Podcasting, has become so powerful behind the microphone that when he says something, mentions a product, has an opinion…it MOVES people to action and response. (It’s also a damn good podcast… one of my favorites)

At The Sea-Town Podcast, our goal is to have the same effect locally. I sit down with and interview Seattle area small business owners and entrepreneurs to help them share their story with the rest of us. We ARE already having an impact. Our guests come on the Podcast and tell their story. People can hear their passion. They can connect and relate to the business owner in ways a print ad cannot. This is how businesses survive and thrive in the long term, not just by making or selling great products or services but by connections... through relationships and messages that resonate with their customers, they build lasting affinity... a following.

Most of my episodes last 15-30 minutes. If their episode gets 150 - 200 listens in the first week, that’s equal to 2,250 to 6,000 minutes of publicity!

The podcast is not an ad. It's so much more. It’s the guest’s chance to control their narrative. To tell their story. To earn your trust. One more way to connect with and serve the community they are in.

I don’t trust the media (only 6% of us do). As a small business owner, Christian and Army Officer (National Guard), I have high standards of conduct. I research all of my guests and you can be assured, I don’t invite on guests if I don’t trust them.
