June Monthly Update
GOSA Releases New Downloadable Data
GOSA recently released new downloadable data files. First, users may now download the data found on the High School Graduates Outcomes Dashboard. For each public high school, this interactive dashboard shows:
- The percentage of graduates enrolled in college/university or working,
- The top in-state and out-of-state colleges by enrollment, and
- The percentage of students who earn a credential or degree within five years.
Second, GOSA released the student mobility rates for 2014-2015. To count as “mobile” for the purposes of this analysis, students must have entered or withdrawn from a school between October 7 and May 1. October 7, 2014 is the Georgia Department of Education’s (GaDOE) fall enrollment count date. May 1 represents a consistent date that is prior to the end of the school year in all Georgia districts.

2016 Governor's Honors Program Begins
On June 19, 653 rising high school juniors and seniors arrived at Valdosta State University to begin the 2016 Governor’s Honors Program (GHP). Administered by GOSA, GHP is a four-week residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students. GHP has been in operation for 53 years.
Students attend classes in the mornings and afternoons in specific areas of study, and they participate in a wide variety of social and instructional opportunities every evening. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom. It is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. GHP will run through July 16.

Updates to Interactive Education Data Map
GOSA’s Interactive Education Data Map now includes information from the 2014-15 school year. The map includes district-level data on:
- Student demographics
- Standardized test performance
- College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores
- Community demographics
- Student mobility

Clark Creek Elementary School
The Innovation in Teaching Competition recognizes and rewards Georgia Educators who are using innovative strategies to advance student achievement. Jennifer McIntosh, of Clark Creek Elementary in Acworth, helped her fifth grade students hone their skills in technology and building by having them construct a model city, complete with structures and lighting.
