MP meets 'Her Majesty' at Queen's birthday celebrations in Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill
Epping Forest MP met 'Her Majesty' when a special guest arrived before a crowd of several hundred people in Queens Road, Buckhurst Hill, on the day the Queen officially celebrated her 90th birthday.
Children were on hand to sing Happy Birthday as a parade featuring cheerleaders and a Beefeater made its way down Queens Road to launch Saturday's event.
And then the special guest stepped out of the 'Royal' car and the crowds welcomed 'Her Majesty' just hours after the Queen's official birthday celebrations, the Trooping of the Colour', in London.
The event, organised by Buckhurst Hill Village Forum, saw the street lined with stalls and entertainment.
After the official welcome to 'the Queen', the 'royal' visitor went on a walk-about up Queens Road before taking to a throne where she posed for photographs and met her loyal subjects, including Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing and county councillor Valerie Metcalfe.
Mrs Laing said: "I was delighted to meet 'Her Majesty' at the special birthday celebrations in Queens Road and would like to thank Buckhurst Hill Village Forum for organising such a great afternoon to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.
"Queens Road has a reputation of pulling together to make these community events such a success and today's celebrations were no exception with many of the shops and businesses making a special effort to decorate their windows on a red, white and blue theme - congratulations to them all."
