August 2016 Newsletter
It has been a while since I have sent out a newsletter, life has been extraordinarily busy for me and I'm sorry for being out of touch!

We are in the dog days of summer now, and lawn care, landscaping, gardening, and outdoor activities like swimming, hiking, camping and sports are some of the activities that might have you feeling some pain, soreness or discomfort. Don't forget to get regular massage to help keep you playing in top form!

And schools will be starting again before the end of the month for a lot of school systems. You teachers, students and parents might want to think about getting a massage toward the end of this month to get you in the right relaxed space to deal with the new hectic-ness of the school year - or schedule one for after the first few weeks, you know you will need a break!

Come on over and book now to make sure you can get the date and time you want!

Some summertime health warnings

SUNBURN
I won't give you the speech on avoiding sunburn, I'm sure you're aware. But I do want to talk about sunburn and massage. Sunburn is damaged skin, and is what's called a "local contraindication" meaning that areas of sunburned skin should not be massaged, especially if they are blistered. I doubt you would want to have burned skin rubbed anyway, but if you have a massage scheduled and you do get a sunburn that is painful to the touch in an area that you were hoping to have focus on during your session, please contact me so that we can discuss whether we should re-schedule.

ESSENTIAL OILS
I know some of you are big fans of essential oils, like I am. (If you're saying to yourself "what are essential oils?", keep an eye on my blog, I am planning a post about them soon!) If you use essential oils at home, I wanted to bring to your attention the risks of using certain oils topically (applied to your skin). The following commonly used oils are considered "photosensitising" or "phototoxic" which means that when applied to skin which is then exposed to sun within 24 hours, they can cause burning, sometimes severe. (Source) This means, don't use them on your skin if you will be spending any time in the sun in the following 24 hours.
  • Bergamot
  • Grapefruit
  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Bitter Orange
SAME CENTER, NEW ROOM!
Over Memorial Day Weekend the Tranquili-Chi Center did a grand room migration. We are still in the same suite in the building, but now Sarapeutic is in a treatment room at the other end of the space. You should come see it!
Do you understand the benefits of receiving massage from the same practitioner every time, instead of bouncing around to different therapists each time? I talk about this (and more!) in my recent blog post. CLICK HERE to check it out.
THIS AND THAT

SCHEDULING FLEXIBILITY
While most of my available appointments are shown on my online booking site, if you can't find one that works for your schedule and you need to get in, please call or email me.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT?
I have a blog where I talk about health and wellness topics, massage-related and also general. I haven't written much lately, but plan to write more frequently in the months ahead. Is there anything you would like to learn about? Let me know! Read it here

A REMINDER
You can now book last minute appointments online, up to one hour before your desired appointment time. As a matter of fact, online booking is probably the easiest way to book last minute, as I can't answer the phone if I am in session.

CHAIR MASSAGE!
Would you like to get chair massage at your work? Having a fundraiser, fair or event? I would love to coordinate with you, or your company or organization, to do on-site chair massage at any event or on a regular basis. Please pass my information to your contact person, I'd be happy to talk to them about designing a program specific to your needs!

Do You YELP?

If you ever use Yelp! to find or review businesses, and you would be so inclined to review mine, that would really help me out.

If you don't Yelp but still would like to give feedback, I would love to hear it (and it would help me a lot to get new clients if you had something great to say)! You can leave a review on Facebook, and Sarapeutic also has a Google+ page.
