From Spring to Summer...

From May to June, a lot has happened.  First hear from the Camps and what they've been up to.

Things! I must tell you about them!

May 11th marked mine and Jessica's 4th wedding anniversary! I have so many thoughts and feelings about this, but one of the most prominent is that I hope our marriage is a good example and encouragement to others. In the past, Jessica and I have gone on adventures to celebrate our anniversary. We've gone cabinning deep in the woods, spent the weekend in Kemah, gone to museums, and eaten at weird restaurants. This year we refrained from taking a "real" vacation because, well, we just moved to the other side of the planet! That's plenty of adventure for now. However, I look forward to doing something really adventurous in this area next year.

One of the gifts Jessica and I gave each other this year was a cat! Yes, we're cat people and have wanted to get one since we were first married. We have never lived somewhere that having a large pet would be practical until now, so we made it happen! We adopted Tetra from the local animal shelter and have been enjoying training her and introducing her to friends here. We named her Tetra after the number "4", as well as the character from The Wind Waker. She is very comfortable around children and people, and has a very spunky attitude.

Jessica and I have been able to become involved in two new areas of ministry since I wrote last. One of them is working with young adults once a month. We grill hamburgers (yes, real hamburgers complete with jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, and hand made patties!), play games, study the Bible, and enjoy general merrymaking. We are currently studying the life of Solomon and the advice he gave to young people on God being the source of true wisdom.

We also were invited to lead a Bible study at a local high school! This is an all girls school that teaches Bible classes. Rocky comes along with Jess and I to help with translation, music, and hilarity. I was a little nervous, at first, that I might be a little intimidating to these girls and that they would feel uncomfortable around me. Jessica led us in a game of Spoons to break the ice, and after the teachers joined in and they started beating me in the game, the discomfort was dissolved. Everyone had a great time! Jess, Rocky, and I got to share our testimonies with the girls and we look forward to getting to know more about their lives.

Well, that's all for now! Please continue to lift up the ministry here as well as the community in Kumamoto. Remember that this work we are doing is just as much yours as it is ours. God has been working on hearts here for longer than all of us have been alive and we're lucky to get to be a part of it now.

Other things going on in Aroma Ministries...

Rocky and Marla spent 10 days up in Central Japan doing ministry and while they were away the Camps and the rest of BFF kept the ministry going here.  What a blessing to have people who can stay and continue the ministry when our music evangelism takes us away for a short tour.  While away, Rocky and Marla spent a week teaching on worship at the Torchbearer's Summer Bible School in Yamanakako.  And ministered at local churches and in that community.

Summer ministry is fast approaching.  We will have CMA with us again from early July for almost 2 weeks.  Their schedule is full of ministry opportunities with local Christian schools, churches, and BFF!!!  Then the Texas Team is coming again as well.  We will have baptisms, Summer School and Family Camp again.  Please pray for our summer teams as they prepare to come and help us reach out.

Continue to pray for Kumamoto and Oita prefecture in the recovery from earthquakes.  We continue to go and serve when we can.  Rocky and Shuhey ministered through music last weekend and Rocky and Marla will be performing at a charity concert this coming week.  Please pray especially for church leadership as they help coordinate volunteers and continue to minister to their own communities while they themselves are living under the stress of the post disaster circumstances.  They need your prayers that Jesus will sustain them physically and spiritually during this time.

We appreciate your prayers for our ministry and the Bible Family Fellowship church.  We continue to see this little church grow and thrive and pray that more and more will come to know the salvation and full life we can have in Jesus Christ, through our fellowship and love!

With all our love from this part of the Body of Christ!!
