It's coming up to Refugee Week (19-25 June), a time when we raise awareness of issues faced by refugees and celebrate the contributions that refugees have made to Australian society.  Many refugees and asylum seekers participate in neighbourhood houses.

New Neighbourhood House Workplace Agreement

Are you up to date with the changes in the new agreement?  Summary of changes here, full agreement here.   All NHVic members will be posted a pack in term 3 with the process for the committee then staff to vote about whether to sign onto the new agreement.  Keep an eye on NHVic weekly e-Bulletins for information.  I suggest you join  Jobs Australia if you have not already as they are qualified industrial relations advisors.  You will need to consider the costs of signing on to the new agreement and the implications of not being covered by this agreement.

Women and Leadership Scholarships

Women and Leadership Australia are offering fee support for these leadership programs.  Scholarships to be awarded prior to June 30.  Details here.

School holidays are almost here, a quieter time for most neighbourhood houses, however, a few houses are offering new holiday programs for school children.  All the best for your new programs!    Our next NENHN event is 17 August, Reflection and Direction setting at Allwood Neighbourhood House.  More details will come out in July.
Bye for now
