2016 ORGANIC AFRICA PAVILION DRAWS +500 BUYERS
February 2016 marked the successful return of the Organic Africa Pavilion to Biofach. At the trade fair in Nuremberg, ProFound and invited exhibitors promoted Africa as a source for high-quality organic products. The Pavilion enabled exhibitors to meet over 500 potential buyers.
The nine exhibitors from Ghana, Senegal, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe presented value-added and speciality products to Biofach visitors, including baobab, honey, cocoa, desert date, neem and coffee.
We had a great time at the Organic African Pavilion. To have an experienced representative from ProFound in conjunction with the producers, proved to be very valuable. Fuad Aman, founder, Limera - Sweden

ETHIOPIAN HONEY ENTREPRENEURS: 7 CONTRACTS, 4 EXPORTING
Our work in the ASPIRE programme is showing great results. In 2015, we intensified our support to seven high-potential honey processors. This year, all of them have contracts with buyers, while four are already exporting. Two more are preparing their orders and will ship within weeks.
We encouraged all seven processors to focus on the organic market. Most of them have already found buyers for their organic honey and are just finalising their certification procedure. Five processors are preparing to exhibit at next year’s Biofach.
The ASPIRE programme aims to create a sustainable beekeeping sector in Ethiopia that supports 30,000 beekeepers.

A BOOST TO OILS, SEEDS, BEANS & PULSES FROM MYANMAR
ProFound developed a strategy to strengthen the oilseeds, oils, beans & pulses sectors in Myanmar. By combining market analysis with intensive field research and a stakeholder meeting with producers, we identified key opportunities and bottlenecks for the sector.
The resulting strategy will form the basis for further CBI work with the European private sector in Myanmar. It also sets out scenarios to cooperate with international and national partners. Later this year, CBI and RVO are looking to bring interested Dutch buyers to Myanmar to boost the programme.
