Hey Hoyas,

Welcome home! We are Enushe Khan and Chris Fisk—President and Vice-President of the Georgetown University Association  (GUSA), your student government. We work to improve student life on campus through a wide range of issue areas ranging from dining, housing, and arts, to athletics, mental health, safety/sexual assault, accessibility, transfer affairs, other issues of inclusivity and a lot more!

Visit our office in Sellinger Lounge if you are in the mood for karaoke, if you want to talk about anything you'd like to advocate for on campus, or if you just want to hangout. We are here for you—reach out if you’d like to chat about getting involved in GUSA, navigating campus resources, or our mutual love of Chipotle.

Welcome to the Hoya family and we can’t wait to meet you!

XOXO,
Enushe & Chris
Georgetown University's Center for Student Engagement is committed to providing learning and development opportunities, which complement our Jesuit identity and students' educational experiences. We empower and partner with students to create a vibrant and pluralistic campus community through: leadership opportunities that foster integrity and collaboration; high quality programs that spark curiosity and inspire action; and reflective practice that deepens self-knowledge and awareness.
The InterHall Council works with the Office of Residential Living to oversee all of the residential spaces on campus. We put on programs and study breaks open to all students throughout the year as well as provide funding and advocacy for hall councils and other student groups on campus.
The Department of Performing Arts offers an exciting array of interdisciplinary programs and artistic pursuits that can enrich your Georgetown experience! Visit our website to explore performance ensembles in Music, Theater, and Dance; degree programs; and studio classes as well as seminars with slots reserved for New Students. Come by our OPEN HOUSE in the DAVIS CENTER LOBBY  Tuesday, August 30, 2:30-4pm, to sign up for auditions and meet faculty and students.
It is with great excitement that we bring you Georgetown Mobile, the app that empowers its students and staff with information about Georgetown and New Student Orientation (NSO) at the palm of their hand. Be sure to download it at  m.georgetown.edu or in the App Store for iOS and Android devices before arriving to the Hilltop!

Dear Jack the Bulldog,
 I was wondering how to apply or try out for the varsity sports teams. I was interested in maybe joining the crew team or the sailing team, is there anything I should do now to let the team know my interest in joining? When would the tryout dates be and can a student walk onto a team or do they have to be recruited?
Thanks,
@SportyHoya1789

Hi @SportyHoya1789,
Certain teams usually have open tryouts/practices in the fall for incoming students to walk-on. Those that do will hold informational sessions in the beginning of the school year discussing the walk-on process and their respective sports.

While no specific action is generally required of you before you come to campus in the fall, if you would like to learn more about being an athlete at Georgetown, I recommend reaching out to a current athlete on the team or to the team's coach. You can find all coaches' information on our athletics website, linked below.
