Colby Sadeghi is a fine art photographer with a background in painting based in New York City.
Ten years ago he fell in love with the magic of instant film photography and ever since because of its enduring quality, its subtleties and tangibility, it's been his main medium.
Sadeghi experiments with expired film stock, which often behaves unexpectedly; leaving surface patterns and visual clues of the process. This process aspect is important, the ritual imposed by the use of instant film, together with its ephemeral character, compels Sadeghi to be mindful of the intimate moment he is connecting with in real time.
Sadeghi recently spent eighteen months in New Zealand completing a range of personal projects, using both Polaroid and Super 8 film, all of which aimed to draw parallels between the natural beauty of the New Zealand landscape and that of the female form. His work has been shown in New Zealand, France and the United States.
All works presented are originated on vintage Polaroid film and are printed on archival Hahnemühle photo-rag paper.
