eGovFrame Technical Training & Service Program
September 26-29, 2016

WeGO offers the WeGO eGovFrame Technical Training and Service Program, a four-day comprehensive training program to help city officials develop web and mobile e-Government applications based on the WeGO eGovFrame. The next training program will be held in September, and cities interested in receiving the complimentary Technical Training on the WeGO eGovFrame can contact the WeGO Secretariat. Executive Committee Meeting 2016

WeGO will be holding the annual Executive Committee Meeting from October 12-14, 2016 in Beyoğlu, Turkey. This year's EXCOM Meeting will also include a best practice sharing session and a session discussing Public Private Partnerships (PPP) for ICT development for cities. Please stay tuned for more details.

WeGO warmly invites WeGO members to take this unique opportunity to feature their smart solutions at the special WeGO Pavilion at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC). The SCEWC is the premier global summit for smart cities, which is held annually in Barcelona, Spain, and brings together over 14,000 participants from all over the world. The WeGO Pavilion, with a size of at least 60 sq m., will be at a prime location at the central exhibition area of the Gran Via Exhibition Center and accommodate separate sections for WeGO members. WeGO Session on ICT-enabled Smart Sustainable City at the International Forum on Urban Policy for the SDGs

At the recently-held International Forum on Urban Policy for the SDGs hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government, WeGO organized a session on ICT-enabled Smart Sustainable City, which featured an overview of how ICT has paved the way for cities to become smarter and more sustainable with limited resources. Speakers from WeGO Member Cities Seoul (Korea), San Fernando La Union (Philippines), and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) shared their pioneering city solutions, while high-level discussants from the World Bank and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) introduced development opportunities and best practices for building smart sustainable cities. WeGO e-Government Training Program 2016: The Seoul Program

16 public officials from WeGO members Bandung (Indonesia), Chengdu (China), Hebron (Palestine), Jakarta (Indonesia), Khartoum State (Sudan), Mexico City (Mexico), North Kordofan State (Sudan), Quezon City (Philippines), San Fernando La Union (Philippines), Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), Yakutsk (Russia), and NITDA (Nigeria) took part in the annual Seoul Program organized by WeGO in cooperation with the Seoul Human Resource Development Center (SHRDC). This year’s program featured informative lectures on Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Cybersecurity and was complemented by technical tours to Seoul's state-of-the-art IT facilities, as well as cultural visits. Joint Workshop for e-Government and Smart City towards Sustainable Development with ADB and NIA

WeGO, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the National Information Society Agency of Korea (NIA) co-organized their first-ever Joint Workshop for e-Government and Smart City towards Sustainable Development in Jeju Island, Korea. Representatives from WeGO members Chengdu (China), East Nile Locality (Sudan), Hanoi (Vietnam), Jakarta (Indonesia), Khartoum State (Sudan), Nairobi (Kenya), San Fernando La Union (Philippines), Seberang Perai (Malaysia), NIC (Sudan), and NITDA (Nigeria), as well as delegates of ADB took part in the workshop that covered outstanding issues concerning the complexity of the relationship between e-Government and Smart City and success stories of different stakeholders in Korea and abroad in building a Smart City. WeGO Signs MOUs with KEXIM, KLID, and TM Forum
WeGO signed Memoranda of Understanding with various organizations in the past quarter.

WeGO and the Export Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) have agreed to bring together WeGO's experience in sharing good ICT practices in cities and KEXIM's expertise in development and poverty reduction to coordinate and make resources available to transform cities from developing countries through ICT.

Meanwhile, WeGO and the Korea Local Information Research & Development Institute (KLID) will be working on the organization of knowledge-sharing events and capacity building programs for local government officials in addition to seeking funding for joint projects, among others.

WeGO and the TM Forum also signed an MOU to jointly brand a Smart City Maturity and Benchmark Model to allow WeGO members to assess their strengths and weaknesses in five key dimension areas related to city smartness.
WeGO Welcomes New Members
WeGO is pleased to welcome new Associate Members to the WeGO network! Yakutsk (Russia) and Sejong City (Korea) will become Full Members, while the Central Information Technology Office (Belize) will become a full-fledged Friendship Member of WeGO after receiving the approval of Executive Committee Members, who are scheduled to convene at the upcoming Executive Committee Meeting in Beyoğlu, Turkey in October. 
City e-Government Diagnostic and Solution (CeDS) Online Platform
The WeGO Secretariat encourages its members to use the CeDS Online Platform, a diagnostic tool to help members analyze their city e-Government maturity and identify key action items without the help of outside experts. The platform is exclusive to WeGO members and can be used up to 4 times a year to check the development progress of a city’s e-Government environment and to formulate effective development strategies. Members should contact the WeGO Secretariat and get their log-in credentials to start using the CeDS Online Platform! More information on the CeDS can be found here.
New Faces at the WeGO Secretariat
New Senior Program Officer: Ms. Eunbyul Cho
Ms. Eunbyul Cho is a Senior Program Officer at the WeGO Secretariat. Prior to joining WeGO, Ms. Cho worked at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF), Korea as a research officer, supervising the operations of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and managing the Ministry’s policy advice program known as the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), which aims to share Korea’s development know-how and support economic development of the partner countries in a demand-driven manner. Also, she was actively engaged in numerous global discussions including the OECD Development Assistance Committee and facilitated collaborative work between the MOSF and international organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and the UN.
New Program Officer: Mr. Tony Levero
Tony is a recent graduate of the Korea University Graduate School of International Studies and hails from Baltimore, USA. He studied international development and cooperation and is eager to contribute at WeGO. He previously interned at the United Nations Development Programme Seoul Policy Centre.  
New Program Officer: Mr. Andrew Lim
With a holistic background in a vast array of fields such as sustainability, ICT, international relations, international organization and security, along with his graduate degree at Yonsei University, Andrew aims to utilize his comprehensive knowledge for the advancement of the quality of life through digitization. His previous professional experience includes conducting research under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), and focused on providing evidence-based research to assist in tobacco control policies. He has also worked with World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) to assist in its mission in Korea. Other professional experience includes a regular corner at the 101.3 TBS eFM radio station, post-production editing, and teaching.
