Hello Friend,

Welcome to the latest issue of Project Priorities! This is your resource for all major updates from Community Initiatives, so it is critical that all project directors remain subscribed to this list. If you have submissions for funding and employment opportunities, please send them to your specialist.

Would other members of your team benefit from these updates? Encourage them to sign up!

Important Updates

Welcome Craig! Our new Chief Financial Officer, Craig Fox is a seasoned finance professional, drawing from a long and diverse career in both the nonprofit and for-profit worlds. He has a passion for leading the financial aspects of a results-oriented nonprofit organization.  He is very client service oriented, detailed, and loves what we do at Community Initiatives.  We are confident that he will become a major contributor to the success of our organization and that you will begin to feel the difference.

Reminder: Annual Reporting—Due July 15th!
Project Directors should check their in-boxes on Friday for a link to this year’s required annual report. We have decided to consolidate reporting into an annual activity rather than twice per year. You may notice that it is a little longer as a result, but in the end, it will take less time than filing reports every six months. Remember, reports are due no later than July 15, 2016.

New Project Support for WeDidIt Fundraising
In his new role as Technology Specialist, Jyan has helped many projects get their WeDidIt fundraising pages up and running. Since then he has also helped many understand how to get the most from the platform. Because so many projects ask similar questions, we have invested in live and recorded trainings to support your online fundraising efforts. This week, we hosted a live one-hour “Navigating WeDidIt” webinar. An archived version of this webinar is on the project login page, tutorials. To date, we have produced six “Two Minute Tips and Tricks” videos, with many more to come. Visit our youtube channel to learn more about:

Open Enrollment for CI Benefits
The deadline for submitting enrollment forms to Human Resources is June 24, 2016 and the benefits/changes will be effective July 1, 2016. Please note that this year in addition to HMO and PPO medical plans, Anthem is also offering an HSA (Health Savings Account) medical plan. The Kaiser Plan is still also available. There are no other changes to benefits this year, however, there were some increases.

If you are not making any changes to your current benefits, you will not need to complete new forms, unless you will be contributing to the Health Care Flexible Spending Account or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account, which both require new forms. Follow this link: Finance, Programs, & H.R. Forms to review documents that will assist you with open enrollment planning. Contact Melanie Wallace, Sr. Director, Human Resources, MWallace@communityin.org if you have any questions.

Funding Resources and other Opportunities

We use this space to collect and share funding opportunities and fundraising resources that may be helpful to our projects. We do not have an affiliation with most of these organizations and companies, and any costs associated with webinars and events are not included in your Community Initiatives fee.

The Christensen Fund provides financial support for community-based organizations in the Bay Area. The application window to submit pre-proposals is August 1-31 for grants to be awarded in the next calendar year.

It’s time for donors to “see overhead as core mission support.”

Monthly Tip

Does it really make a difference to you whether your donation page visitors are using a Windows device vs. a Mac device? Probably not. But other stats are highly important, and actionable! Does it matter that 24% of your visitors are on a mobile device? Absolutely! Make that page mobile friendly! Does it matter that new visitors are 44% more likely to donate than return visitors? You bet! Optimize that page to capture donors the first time they visit. If you know how well your page performs, you can measure the effectiveness of small changes. Maybe a new video will increase the conversion, maybe it will hurt it. The only way to know for sure is to have a baseline. Read more about donation page stats by visiting the WeDidIT blog
