Looking forward

Though the school year is beginning to come to a close and students are looking ahead to the summer, we know this is one of the busiest times of year for school counsellors.

Whether you are helping your graduating students prepare for the next steps in their educational journey or are turning your attention to next year's Grade 12 class, we hope these tips and information will help you stay apprised of what's going on at uSask!

First-year class registration opens
Saturday, June 18

Choosing and registering for classes is one of the most important tasks students need to complete before starting university. To help them prepare, we offer a number of online resources to help students plan:

Classes and Registration page

Using the Classes and Registration page, students can learn how to determine which classes they need, find out when they are offered, build a schedule and add, change or drop classes successfully.

U-Start Guide to Registration

For those who prefer paper,  the U-Start Guide to Registration is a 24-page, printable booklet containing the same instructions for registration, along with helpful screenshots, pointers and tips, definitions for university words and phrases, and other information that is helpful to know before registration.

Students may also appreciate the printable Class Schedule Worksheet, which they can use to plot class options and set their timetable.

New Students page

The New Students page is where newly admitted students will find all of the next steps they need to follow as they prepare to come to university.

Final transcripts due August 1

Those of your students who are finishing high school (secondary school), completing the IB Diploma Programme, or writing IB or AP examinations must remember to arrange to have their final, official transcripts delivered to the University of Saskatchewan by August 1.

Final official transcripts must be sent directly to uSask by the appropriate authority (such as the provincial Ministry of Education, the IB organization, the College Board, etc.).

International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) transcripts are always required if students have completed IB diploma courses or written AP examinations, even if the student is not eligible for, or plans to decline, their transfer credit.

If you or your students have any questions about submitting transcripts, please don't hesitate to contact us by telephone at 1-306-966-5788 or by email at admissions@usask.ca.

Save the date: Open House is Fri. Sept. 30

This fall, join us for Open House on Friday, September 30, 2016. Registration for prospective students, parents, and school counsellors will open later this summer. Students will be able to choose from a variety of experiences, for which pre-registration will be required.

To receive early notification when the registration form for Open House is available, students are invited to provide their email address at the Open House web page or contact us at openhouse@usask.ca.

New resources for environmental program options

A new website has been created to provide a "one-stop shop" for students and teachers interested in undergraduate environmental programs at the University of Saskatchewan (uSask).

Using this site, students can learn about eight different undergraduate programs with an environmental focus. Information about career profiles, workshop offerings and environmentally focused student groups at uSask is also available. Videos about each program are currently being added.

We encourage you to share this site with your students so they can learn about the many opportunities to study in an environmental field at the University of Saskatchewan.
