Featured Funding Opportunity 


Whiting Fellowship
 
Temple University has been invited to nominate up to two humanities professors for the
 Whiting Public Engagement Fellowship.This pilot program, sponsored by The Whiting Foundation, is designed to celebrate and support faculty who embrace public engagement as part of the scholarly vocation. This fellowship aims to identify professors with a demonstrated commitment to using their scholarly expertise to reach wider audiences and to fund ambitious projects developed for direct and significant impact on a specific public.
 
Interested candidates should submit the materials detailed below to Richard Deeg (rdeeg@temple.edu) no later than June 30th.  Information will be reviewed and a decision will be made as to who CLA will nominate to be considered.
 
All interested candidates should submit an NIH-style biosketch, and a two-page project description that includes the following: 
  • the project summary, indicating subject matter, form of execution, and desired outcomes for the public-facing project;
  • description of intended public audience and plan to engage them;
  • description of candidate's technical skills/expertise to implement the project.

Accolades


For a project entitled Benchmarking Public School Finances And Education Practices, Joe McLaughlin (IPA) has received a grant from the William Penn Foundation.
 
Lu Zhang (Sociology) has received funding from the American Center for International Labor Solidarity for Building Workers’ Capacity: Labor Activism, Trade Union and Labor Law Reform in China.
 
The Wabash Center has awarded Nyasha Junior (Religion) with funding for Philadelphia Peer-To-Peer Mentoring Cluster.
 
Alex Puhalla, mentored by Mike McCloskey (both Psychology) has been awarded a Research Training Fellowship from the Society for Psychophysiological Research to fund his research in psychophysiology.
