Greetings Scott Harvey Fan,
June in Amador County is a celebration of our deeply rooted Italian heritage. During the Gold Rush in the 1800's, Italian immigrants settled in the Sierra Foothills, working in the mines, cultivating land and ultimately paving the way for today's fruit, vegetable and dairy industries. In 1881, The Italian Benevolent Society was organized as a way to help the community, and this year marked their 136th Italian Picnic. A 3-Day event featuring dinners, carnivals, wine tasting and a parade!
It's no wonder then, that with a dominant Italian heritage and terroir similar to that of the Piedmont region of Italy, Amador County is also known for producing some of the best Barbera in the world! But as a Scott Harvey Barbera lover, you already know that. Did you know that Barbera is also considered one of the most "food-friendly" and versatile wines on the market? Of course you did! While traditional pairings include tomato and vegetable based dishes, it also goes great with a variety of grilled foods...like our Grilled Pizza. Heck, here in Amador County, Barbera is so special it even has its own festival! The Barbera Festival is held on the second Saturday of June.
Whether or not you were able to attend this years Italian Picnic and Barbera Festival, we're keeping the celebration going with our June Newsletter dedicated to summer and Barbera.

Pizza...a classic Italian American favorite! From thin crust to deep dish, vegetarian to meat lovers, there's a pizza out there for everyone. But baking a pizza during the summer means you have to crank up the oven...UGH! You could always have it delivered, but after tax, tips and delivery fees, you could have gone to a fancy restaurant.
Don't sweat it, we've got a delicious and easy pizza recipe you make right on your own grill. This in-house recipe, courtesy of Monica our wine club manager, combines spicy, savory and sweet ingredients to pair with any of Scott's award-winning Barberas.
