Mr Barval Fine Wines are released....

Welcome to our inaugural Newsletter from Mr Barval Fine Wines. This is the platform that we will use to keep you informed of up coming wine releases, events and news from the world of Mr Barval. The Newsletters will be quarterly which will coincide also with our VIP mixed dozen specials.

2016 started with a big bang which saw our first vintage bottled labelled and hit the market. The first releases were the 2015 Chardonnay and 2015 Mistral (Viognier 67% Marsanne 33%) which was closely followed up by the release of the 2015 Nebbia (Nebbiolo) in March. Limited stocks of the Mistral remain available at our stockists and the Nebbia has now sold out with pre-orders available for the 2015 release.

Our revamped website has just gone live and has all the tasting notes, and stories behind label and wine names, details of our wine making philosophy and comprehensive list of our stockist. Wines can also be ordered via our website and can be shipped by the case free of charge in Australia. We are also happy to announce that wines are now able to be shipped internationally...please contact us directly for freight charges.

The Mistral and Nebbia were drinking exceptionally after bottling but the real star of the show so far is the 2015 Chardonnay which is improving day after day. This gem is going to last the distance and we would recommend looking at purchasing cellar stock as its going to be on the dinner table in many years to come.

In November we will be bottling our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon. It has spent 18 months on oak and this will be our flagship wine. We are now accepting pre-orders as expect the demand to be high for the Cabernet based on the success of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Detailed information on our current wines can be found on our website http://www.mrbarval.com

The Vineyard Project
Mr Barval Wines took on the enormous challenge almost a year ago now to rework a 35 year old, 10 acre vineyard block in Mount Barker. Vines that had been planted with love, always adhered to byodynamic principles (actually the first certified bio-dynamic vines in Western Australia) but unfortunately had been neglected, unprunned and abandoned for the past 5 years. The varieties of Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot excited us as we believe vines of this age in this area have great potential (The 1987 Riesling was rated by Halliday to be the best of Australia) and so the works began to rejuvenate and breathe life back into the vines. The works over the past year have involved some serious blood sweat and tears from family and friends alike and we thank you all so much for continuing to put your hands up for offers of help. We have recently just prepared the block of Sauvignon Blanc to be grafted over to Riesling (think chainsaw massacre) and pruning and the laying of canes has now been completed. We wait now with baited breath to see if Vintage 2017 will bear us with fruits from our labour!
