President's Note
It's hard to believe we're half way through the year already! Time flies when you're having fun. We hope you are because we certainly are in organizing various activities and events for all to enjoy thus far while making new connections. We're always open to suggestions so do not hesitate to bring forth ideas!
The past few weeks were packed with activities! First it was the plant exchange which was a success! There were at least two dozens neighbors who came by. We had roughly 31 different varieties of perennials, veggies, and seeds in total. Many found new wonderful homes. Some were donated to Nuestro Mundo Community School and Habitat Restore with some that will soon take up residence at the Lake Edge Park.
The first ever LENA Pub Crawl did not disappoint. It started as an idea I had for an article that turned into a wonderful event. Our adventure was documented in our Facebook group; Lake Edge Neighborhood Association. Thank you everyone who came out that evening. Word on the street is that it's likely we'll have another outing soon!
We enjoyed the Monona Memorial Day Parade honoring the fallen. The weather was just right and lasted through the week for Carniv-Allis as well. We'll be preparing for the upcoming events including the 3rd Annual LENA Garage Sale. There is still time to sign up! Signs will be placed about one week prior to the sale around the neighborhood perimeters. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, NextDoor, or check our website frequently for upcoming events and news!

Wisconsin Heat Awareness Day

Summer has officially arrived and so have the warm temperatures. We can all agree that the summer weather is a welcome change from winter. But with the warm temperatures come hazards we need to be aware of.
The warm temperatures we all enjoy can be dangerous to some of our family and friends, including our pets. Each year, hundreds of people die from extreme heat events in the United States. For that reason, Governor Walker has declared June 9 to be Wisconsin Heat Awareness Day. MORE...

The East Side Club and Sunset Music Series
 As the Sunset Music Series, which take place on the shores of Lake Monona enters its 3rd year we are encouraged by the attendance of neighbors, friends, and families in the adjacent east side neighborhoods. We strive to deliver a family friendly, laid-back and professionally run event.
As the music series grows and becomes established we see it as an opportunity to help raise funding, awareness, and collaboration among the East Side Neighborhood Coalition. The trial run last year was successful which led to the expansion to other nearby neighborhoods. The arrangement is similar to other Madison neighborhoods run festivals where community volunteers run a beverage area and tips are donated back to the organization.
