Hello!
from
Community Access
Naperville
We hope you are enjoying the summer weather!  Community Access Naperville's mission is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to work in, contribute to, and enjoy their community.  In this newsletter we'll be highlighting our participants' contributions to our community.  Click on words in blue for more information.
Do you have a project for our participants?  Contact us at info@communityaccessnaperville.org, or call 630-352-1928

In addition to their $1,000 Community Service Grant toward CAN's transportation expenses last December, Rotary Club of Naperville - Downtown offered to match all donations, up to $1,500, contributed to CAN between December, 2015 and March 31, 2016.  We are happy to report that we received a bit more than $1,500 in donations during that time period, so CAN did receive the full $1,500 matching grant!  In April, Community Access Naperville expanded programming to include weekly Monday sessions. Funds raised through the matching grant challenge are helping to offset expenses incurred with this expansion.  Many thanks to Rotary Club of Naperville - Downtown and to all of Community Access Naperville's generous supporters!
Participant tuition fees only cover about 50% of CAN’s staff and activity expenses.  Your donation helps to fill the gap.

Community Access Naperville is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization.  Donations are tax-deductible to the full amount permitted by law, and may be eligible for a matching donation from your employer.    Thank You!
Community Access Naperville participants volunteer their services on a regular basis for the following non-profit organizations: West Suburban Community Pantry, The Naperville Public Library, The Naperville Park District, Sharing Connections, The Naperville Police Department, Enactus, and First Congregational United Church of Christ Naperville. CAN is looking for more volunteer opportunities for our participants. Contact us to become a partner!
Our participants love to spend time with their neuro-typical peers.  Please consider joining them at one or more of our sessions!  Earn community service hours, or inquire about internships for class credit.  Visit the Volunteer page on our website to find out more.

We thank Raelisa Schmidt and Laurie Foley, Arrow Team realtors with Charles Rutenberg, for their recent Fourth of July themed promotional project.  Thank you, ReMax David Shallow Team, for providing multiple opportunities for our participants to assemble gift packages for their clients.  Thanks also go to Children's Health Partners, for providing collating projects for our group over the past few years.

Local businesses and private citizens are invited to contact us with your projects that require repeating tasks.  Let us know your needs!

Please consider shopping online at AmazonSmile instead of Amazon, and indicating Community Access Naperville Inc as your non-profit of choice.  Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase amount to our organization.  Start your online shopping trip at smile.amazon.com, or you can click here and bookmark the page.  Your account for AmazonSmile is the same as your regular Amazon account, and you shop at AmazonSmile just like you shop at Amazon.  Just be sure you see "AmazonSmile" in the upper left corner, and "Community Access Naperville Inc" at the top of the page.  Thanks for your support!

When they are not working on projects for our non-profit partners or local businesses, our participants enjoy making whimsical crayon sets as well as colorful wooden rosary beads.  We also have a collection of hand-made knitted and woven items that were created and donated by a generous CAN supporter. Customers who need their items to be shipped should order through TheCANShop on the Etsy website.   However, if you live in or near Naperville, IL, you are invited to avoid shipping and handling costs by contacting us at info@communityaccessnaperville.org to make arrangements to purchase items directly.
CAN participants have been enjoying their trips in the Young Life van!   Young Life Naperville & Aurora graciously shares its van with Community Access Naperville when our destinations are not accessible by bus, train or foot. This makes a wide variety of vocational and recreational opportunities possible for Community Access Naperville programs.
Thank You, Young Life!

Many Thanks to All Community Access Naperville Friends, Donors, Staff and Volunteers!
