Rock Paper Scissors Art & Design Market is getting close! Save the date – Sunday, July 3 from 1-4pm. The afternoon will feature indie design, art and craft stalls and local live music. There will be something for everyone from craft items to affordable artisan jewellery and fine art prints. Foodspace Café will also be open, providing visitors with a lovely place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. We can't wait to host another fantastic art & design market, showcasing the best craftspeople in the region. Greyscale is a body of work by five Australian, Internationally acclaimed artists. These contemporary works in graphite, felt, paint and photography will make you rethink how you perceive matter. It considers how we embody place. It looks at ways in which we encounter, remember or retrace time. One Greyscale artist has worked in deserts, volcanic areas and salt lakes considering the mysteries of life and death.

Rosemary Payne is a local artist who has been working in a variety of media for many years. In her first solo exhibition at Artspace Mackay, Rosemary will investigate the issues of animals in captivity, questioning ideas around conservation and the use of animals for entertainment in today’s society.

2016 Libris Awards: The Australian Artists Book Prize

The Libris Awards are Australia’s premier national artists book prize and the 2016 competition is open. An initiative of the Mackay Regional Council through Artspace Mackay, these biennial awards seek to promote awareness of the Council’s significant collection of artists books and to develop the collection further through the acquisition of new works by leading Australian artists working in this field.

Category 1. Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal National Artists Book Award - $10,000
Category 2. Mackay Regional Council Artists Book Award - $2,500
Category 3. Artspace Mackay Foundation Youth and Student Artists Book Award - $2,000

RSL Sub Branch, Carmila Veteran’s Portrait Project

Their Name liveth Evermore is an Anzac commemorative photographic portrait project by Laurie Anne King inspired by a local veteran community. This exhibition reveals the noble Australian spirit whilst also recognising the rich military service history of the people of Carmila and surrounds.
