Official FIRST
Season Wrap-Up

The AdamBots have had an exceptional year, concluding in a banquet and wrap-up meeting. At the banquet on May 18, we honored students and mentors with various awards, including varsity letters. The wrap-up meeting on May 24 was held to improve our team for the upcoming year. Although the 2016 FIRST season is officially over, our team will continue to be active through outreach, robot demonstrations, and off-season competitions.

SEASON UPDATE

The AdamBots ended the season with a banquet and wrap-up meeting. At the meeting, we discussed responses to a prior survey about the 2016 season. After reviewing the successes and shortcomings of the season, we set up action plans to prepare for next year. The plan includes action items like improving training, preparing for awards presentations, and organizing our relationship with our sister team, the CyberCats.

Over the past week several students attended drive team interviews and tryouts. New members will have driving opportunities at demos and at the Michigan Advanced Robotics Competition (MARC). Additionally, the AdamBots have been invited to the Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI). As only 70 teams may compete, it is an honor to attend. The competition takes place on July 15-16

Plans for the Summer

As part of our outreach program, we will demonstrate our robots at Valeo on June 23. Additionally, on June 18, the AdamBots will participate in Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. We sold luminaries for the past few weeks in memory or in honor of cancer victims or survivors. They will be placed around the track during the event. Over the years, our team raised over $75,000 for this great cause!

Throughout the rest of the summer, students and mentors will plan for the Leadership Boot Camp, held in the fall. This event helps us to set our core values and grow as a team. This year we want to focus on student commitment more, so students recently had interviews to join our Oakland County Competitive Robotics Association (OCCRA). Lastly, we will be having a fundraiser from July 28 to 30. All families of students will contribute to the team's garage sale.
