VMAP Snapshot: Nice Hats!

Valley of Omaha, NE, Hosts Kentucky Derby Party

Collage of photos from the Omaha Valley's Kentucky Derby party.

VMAP Snapshot logoThe Valley of Omaha Scottish Rite welcomed three new candidates as 32° Scottish Rite Masons at the Spring 2016 Reunion, May 6–8. Bros. Brandon Breiby of Florence Lodge No. 281, Justin Salado of Solomon Lodge No. 10, and John Miyoshi of Wahoo Lodge No. 59 received the Scottish Rite degrees over the course of the three-day reunion.

The highlight of Omaha's Spring Reunion was the Kentucky Derby party, hosted by the Scottish Rite Ladies Group and chaired by Brenda Coleman. Guests enjoyed mint juleps, crab cake sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, bacon-wrapped potato wedges, brie, and pecan pie and cupcakes. Ladies brought their best Kentucky Derby hats, and guests had the opportunity to vote on the best hat. Sherry Sederstrom won the best hat, with Jessica Weaver bringing in second place, and Preston Coleman coming in a close third with his dapper seersucker cap and suit!

On the June Tyler's Place podcast, host Bro. Maynard Edwards, 32°, will recap some of the amazing 2016 Celebrating the Craft webathon, which took place May 21. He also will share some inside information about Scottish Rite Day (Nov. 12, 2016) from two Valley leaders who have a great plan for the big day.  If that’s not enough, Bro. Maynard also visits a RiteCare Scottish Rite Childhood Language Program clinic and receives a report from Charleston regarding the recent commemoration of the 215th birthday of the Scottish Rite at the site where it all began.  Of course, he will have the “VMAP Minute” and play an illuminating round of “Tyler's Trivia”!

Join us for the fun and download from iTunes or use the free Tyler's Place app in your app store. Remember—new episodes air on the 15th of each month, but SR Chirp users get advanced access on the 10th.
