Desire as the engine of our behaviour - this consideration is the departure point
for the group exhibition ‘Wishful Thinking’. Our human aspirations can translate
into various forms like a wish, a need, a dream or desire. Each of those is fuelled
by our capacity to imagine, which in turn seems to be accompanied with a dilemma.
On the one hand it enables us to transcend ourselves and realize the impossible.
On the other hand our imagination is rooted in a feeling of longing or a sensation of lack.
What remains is a wish for ‘something’ to be fulfilled and could easily remain wishful thinking.

The exhibition features an array of works that address the different aspects of the phenomenon desire – whether it is an impossible balancing act, the unwanted pleasure of voyeurism of the need to appoint human qualities to objects. In this way ‘Wishful Thinking’ intends to provide some food for thought.

In the past months SPACES was looking for additional artworks to rent for their office and meeting spaces for ther brand new location at Rotterdam Hofplein. Together with Heden, we made a fine selection of artworks of young as well as established artists to give a distinct charm to the building, whilst highlighting the holistic values of the company. SPACES aims to create a stimulating working environment that encourages, connects and attracts talent.
With a continuously growing collection and more than 40 years of experience of purchasing and consulting in contemporary art, Heden has countless opportunities to enrich your office, home and mind. Come and see their collection in The Hague or online at Heden.nl
