Food Bank of the Southern Tier is proud to announce the first edition of our Agency Services Newsletter - Fresh Bites!

Fresh Bites

June/July 2016
Working together to build and sustain hunger-free communities throughout the Southern Tier

Welcome Partner Agencies!

Welcome to the first edition of Fresh Bites! This newsletter is geared toward sharing important information with, as well as highlighting outstanding efforts from, the partner agencies of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.

You'll also notice that this newsletter is more interactive by providing topic summaries with the option to click on links to explore that topic further. Please explore and enjoy!

What to expect in future issues

You should expect to see Fresh Bites in your inbox on a bi-monthly basis. Future editions may include: FBST deadlines, Agency Services calendar, FBST Strategic Plan updates, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) information, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) updates, JSY corner, Fidelis Corner, Agency Highlights, Volunteer Spotlights, and Future FBST Collaborations.

Not all of these topics may be covered in every issue. My goal is to provide a source of valuable information pertaining to our member agencies in a more convenient and centralized manner.

Bon appetit!

Editor's Introduction

Hello! My name is Bethany Britton. As the new Agency Services Assistant, one of my responsibilities is to manage a newsletter geared specifically toward FBST partner agencies. I have also assumed some of Vickie Steck's former responsibilities. I'm sure that if you have not heard from me yet, I will be in touch soon!

Please feel free to contact me directly regarding newsletter feedback as well as other agency concerns!

2016-2018 FBST Strategic Plan Update

At our Annual Agency Celebration in April, Matt Griffin presented an overview of the FBST Strategic Plan. As our work progresses, important updates and developments can be found in this section.
We're excited to take these next steps toward a hunger-free Southern Tier!

Feed: Address the problem of hunger today by maximizing local food sources, optimizing food access for clients, and focusing on nutrition.
Lead: Mobilize a movement around the issue of hunger through education, advocacy, as well as convening and collaborating.
Strengthen: Building and leveraging resources through strengthening relationships while also building internal and agency capacity.
