CEO Newsletter | June 2016

Dear EIT Health partners,

I am delighted to announce, that we have recently launched our new intranet: EIT Health Connections. This gives us a new platform for interaction and exchange. I would like to encourage you to use it to connect with other partners. Together, we have the chance to quickly fill EIT Health Connections with life.

My last weeks have been at the same time busy and productive. I had several strategically important meetings, such as a high level seminar on innovation, organised by the European Commission, a workshop with the EIP AHA regions in Groningen on a potential collaboration with EIT Health as well as the Friends of Europe’s third round table on “disruptive models of healthcare for Europe”. These meetings create great opportunities for us to position EIT Health and develop our brand with important EU stakeholders.

A short update on the submitted proposals, which are currently under review. After the Supervisory Board meeting on 28 July, we will inform all partners having submitted proposals about their outcome - latest at the beginning of August. Our EIT Health Partner Assembly will vote on the Business Plan 2017 on 19 September before we submit it for approval to the EIT.

In the meanwhile we are preparing our first EIT Health Innovation Summit in Barcelona on 23-24 November. This will be the next highlight to strengthen our community even further. You will find some first information about the event below.

"My recent meetings with EU stakeholders underlined, that by developing EIT Health we are creating the health innovation platform, which has so far been missing in the European Union. I am excited to shape EIT Health further with your support in the next months."

 Update from the Pillars

News from Accelerator
EIT Health and BIO Clustermanagement NRW GmbH have launched the digital Private Equity platform “www.startups4.eu” at the 5th BIO.NRW Business Angel Congress in Düsseldorf. This platform should help start-ups to apply for funding from business angels and investors. In order to get the attention of a large investors community, young entrepreneurs and start-ups can register and upload a 3-minute biotech/life science/medtech/digihealth company video in order to apply for funding.

This is one of the first Accelerator activities and it is open to be joined by all existing private equity networks across the EIT Health countries. EIT Health Accelerator creates an ecosystem where innovation can thrive. It gathers the best and brightest health industry entrepreneurs, and provides them with the support, skills and services that they need to get their ideas off the ground and into the market. A follow-up article of the 5th BIO.NRW Business Angel Congress can be found here. The next BIO.NRW Business Angel Congress will take place on Tuesday, 7 March 2017 in Düsseldorf.
