Statement of Appreciation:

I know I've said it before and I try to remember to express it when I'm working with your computer, but I wanted to take this opportunity once again to express my deep appreciation for the privilege of working with your computers.

Over the years, because of you, I have paid very little for advertising because of the kindness of your referrals to your friends and family. My business is the success it is because of you, and because of your referrals I have been able to keep my service fees far lower than the industry standard. Currently my fees for the residential client is $45/hr and for the business client $55/hr. While I may have to increase it a little at some point in the future I will not be increasing it to the industry standard of $95/hr for the residential client or $120/hr for the business client. I will always keep my fees far lower than these standards.

It has been great to serve you and I look forward to doing so for many more years. Some have asked, with me being 64 now, if I will be retiring soon, and while we have considered that option we have decided we are no where near ready to retire yet. I enjoy working with each of you, we enjoy the income, and working with computers is still my passion.

Sooo, thank you for the opportunity to work with you and I hope to continue to provide you with reliable service for the foreseeable future.

Windows 10 free offer coming to a close:

If you've been holding out to let the new Windows 10 operating system mature and work out its bugs before you accept Microsoft's offer of a free upgrade to Windows 10 then you need to know that July 29th will be the last day to obtain Windows 10 free. After July 29th the cost for Windows 10 Home Premium will be $119. As to whether it will work well for your current computer...it is still anyone's guess. The only way we can know for sure is to upgrade your Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 computer to Windows 10 and see how it goes. If it isn't something you like we can roll it back to your previous operating system if we do so within 30 days after the upgrade. In a few rare cases the rollback fails, in which case it will have been especially important to have backed up all your valued files prior to the upgrade.

Here are the steps that should be taken on your computer if you decide to try the upgrade to 10:
1) Back up all of your valued files to an external hard drive (pictures, documents, music, and other important files)
2) Uninstall your current Antivirus software so that it doesn't stop any of the upgrade files from loading
3) If you are upgrading a Laptop be sure it is plugged in to a power source
4) Under no circumstances work with your computer during the upgrade or try to stop the upgrade after it starts

When it is completed check to see if any of your current programs need to be reinstalled, check to see if your printer prints, and then reinstall your Antivirus software.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me. If you would like for me to perform the above steps I can do so remotely from my office if you have purchased a backup hard drive. I recommend you purchase a 1 Terabyte Western Digital Passport hard drive for around $60 from some store like Best Buy. I can then remote in and back up all your files and start the upgrade process for you.

Let me know what you think.

Ransomeware Help:

I know I've mentioned the HUGE concern that ransomeware viruses are, but because they are proliferating so quickly across the Internet it is a real necessity to be sure you are adequately protected. The ransomeware enters your computer, puts an unbreakable encryption on all your personal files, and there is no way to fix it and unencrypt your files...your files would be permanently destroyed. We can reinstall your Windows operating system and programs so that you have a functioning computer again, but all your personal files would be lost.

Here are some important steps to take:
1) Back up all of your valued files, then don't leave your backup drive connected to your computer.
2) Visit http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/malwarebytes_anti_exploit_(formerly_exploitshield).html and download Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit tool to protect you from this "world's worse" virus.

Best of success to you in all your computing!

I’m here to assist you when you need it.  As just a reminder... my onsite residential fee is $45 per hour and for the commercial setting it is $55 per hour and will continue through the month of March. For those times when working remotely with your computer over the Internet is a good option then the cost savings to you are substantial since I only need to charge on a "15 minute" increment instead of the full hour fee for an onsite visit. This means just $12 per 15 minutes. Once again...for any clients you send my way, who use my services for an hour or more, I'd be happy to credit you with $12 of free computer service at your next call.  Do let me know if you send folks my way and I'll keep notes on that as a credit for my next visit to you, and don't feel embarrassed to remind me you would like that credit when I visit.

Thanks so much!
