New Student Registration Day 

The Central campus was filled with new students and their guests this past Friday for New Student Registration Day. According to Melissa Vess, assistant director of admissions, 125 students and more than 200 guests came to meet with faculty and staff, get their ID’s made, and attend sessions presented by Financial Aid and Student Life.
Hispanic and multi-ethnic leaders joined Hispanic families in The Wesleyan Church for Renuevo 2016, a family camp this past weekend at SWU's Central campus. Renuevo offered opportunities for worship, spiritual renewal and fun activities for all ages.

Honoring their service

SWU employees cheer a caravan including a group of marines from Camp LeJeune, N.C and their motorcycle escort June 20 as they pass the Central campus along S.C. Hwy. 93. The marines were on their way to some welcome and deserved R&R June 20 at Lake Keowee.

Southern Wesleyan University is offering a 10-day intensive summer experience July 5-14 designed to help high school students explore how their gifts, abilities, personalities and passions line up with God’s calling on their lives. The Fellowship of the Called Youth Camp at SWU is a 10-day summer intensive institute for rising high school freshmen through recent high school graduates. Read more>>

Team-Based Learning Collaborative recognized the research of Staci Johnson, assistant professor of biology and lab coordinator/safety officer, in their June newsletter as a grant recipient. Her research, presented at the TBLC Conference in Albuquerque, N.M., compared traditional reporting methods to the use of PollEverywhere.com. Read more>>

Two from Seneca High receive SWU music scholarship

Congratulations!

Will Henderson ('13) was ordained June 21. He is student pastor and marketing director at Christ Wesleyan Church in Winston-Salem, N.C. Originally from Brevard, N.C., Henderson graduated from SWU's religion program.
Damon Qualls (’13), a MEDAS graduate, was selected as one of 15 South Carolina ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) Emerging Leaders for the class of 2016. Qualls, who is assistant principal of Berea Middle School, was also named SWU’s Education Alumnus of the Year.

Ken Alexander was honored with a reception June 23 and recognized for 20 years of service to SWU. He was also presented with a SWU captain's chair. Alexander, who most recently has been serving as educational resources manager, was recognized as an employee who has "worn many hats" and would go out of his way to ensure a student had his or her materials in time to take a course. He was also praised for his efforts in connection with recent renovations to AGS centers in Greenville and Charleston.
