The second big distraction was a new toy, an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil. After decades in the tech industry, I knew my way around graphics programs and tablets. Despite the bells and whistles, I had always found them inferior to analog media. But this new technology was a revelation.
Drawing on the new iPad system is as good as using a sketchbook, with the addition of every color and tool you can imagine at your fingertips... and an 'undo' button.

I'm still getting comfortable, but I have a strong suspicion that it will become my go-to media for sketching, life-drawing, etc. I don't think that this will eclipse my studio work anytime soon, but the possibilities are interesting.

And in case the other things weren't enough of a distraction, we got a new puppy. :)

The show is starting to come together and it's exciting to see the pieces as they're finished. I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at a few more of them.

It's such fun to see how different artists approach the same subject. I'll continue to share more pieces leading up to the opening.
The Painters Painting Painters show will be at Davis Gallery September 24th - November 5th, 2016.
