IoT Week Belgrade: Enabling OASC Serbia

OASC was invited to participate in IoT Week Belgrade: Martin Brynskov, OASC Chair, moderated a workshop on “IoT-enabled urban services” and started talks between OASC and various Serbian cities, including Novi Sad and Belgrade, and what benefits there would be to join the Open & Agile Smart Cities network. This was the reason for a joint regional smart city session in the framework of IoT Week Belgrade. Representatives of the cities were joined by Sarajevo to present their smart city projects. The cities dicussed issues – such as fragmentation of the smart city market – with OASC chair Martin Brynskov. Read more about the event here.

OASC & ENoLL at CoR Forum on the EU Urban Agenda

How to put citizens at the center of innovation and how to create the Smart City from bottom-up? These and other key issues were discussed in the workshop on Smart and Innovative Cities. Martin Brynskov, Chair of the Open & Agile Smart Cities initiative, took part in the discussion. The session at the CoR Forum on the EU-Urban Agenda was also joined by Bas Verkerk (Mayor of Delft) and Tuija Hirvikoski (ENoLL president), commented by Lambert van Nistelrooij, Member of the European Parliament, and closed by Raffaele Cattaneo, President of the Lombardia Regional Council. Citizens' right to the city

In a recent article published by the Conversation, Marcus Foth, Professor for Urban Informatics at Queensland University of Technology, stresses the importance of co-creation and the right of citizens to the city. Read the full article about urban and civic innovation here and find out what role OASC plays. The Australian cities of Brisbane, Goldcoast and Springfield joined the OASC initiative with the 3rd wave on October 21, 2015. Pieter Ballon named Smart City Ambassador

For his engagement in the development of – not only – the Smart City Brussels, OASC co-founder and iMinds director, Pieter Ballon, has been appointed Smart City Ambassador at the first Brussels Smart City event. Read more about it here.

OASC at Net Futures 2016
The Open & Agile Smart Cities initiative was invited to host a stand at the Net Futures conference in Brussels. The event was organized by the European Commission and marked the beginning of the cooperation with OrganiCity, a project aimed at co-creation of smart cities by making experimentation easy, and SELECTforCities, a project that enables pre-commercial procurement. Bratislava Innovation Camp

Participate in the Innovation Camp in Bratislava on 6-7 July 2016. The Bratislava Innovation Camp is organized during the Slovak EU Presidency with the support of the Slovak Ministry of Economy, European Committee of the Regions, the Region and City of Bratislava. It will also feed in the 7th European Summit of Regions and Cities "Invest and Connect" held in Bratislava on the 8-9 July. For more information click here. FIRE Forum 2016

The FIRE Forum is open to all innovative Future Internet players to present their work and discuss R&I priorities to shape the Next Generation Internet Experimentation landscape within the context of the next Horizon 2020 ICT Work Programme. The Forum is taking place on September 27, 2016, in Bratislava, Slovakia. The FIRE Forum will gather experts and representatives coming from several domains, including the IoT/AIOTI, the 5G PPP, the Creative Industry and the CAPSSI communities. FIWARE Open Day

The FIWARE Open Day event will take place in Brussels, November 8, 2016. Participants will have the chance to engage with relevant actors of the FIWARE community, to meet the main players from each vertical market and to learn about some of the now 1000+ projects based on FIWARE. Connected Smart Cities Conference 2017

 
OASC will host the 4th Connected Smart Cities Conference on Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Brussels, Belgium, in collaboration with the European Committee of the Regions and other close partners. More information will follow throughout the year. For regular updates on speakers and workshops, please check our website and twitter. City leaders, community initiatives, representatives of the European institutions, tech experts and business developers will join the conference. We are already looking forward to a fruitful and exiting conference, and invite you, as partner or participant.

Survey on OASCities' maturity

To make sure that the services we are developing meet the member cities' expectations in the best possible way, we still need your input. If you have not filled in this short survey yet, we kindly ask you to do so asap to help us adapt our services better to your needs. The invitation to fill in the survey has already been sent out to the OASC representatives and cities, if you have not received the email please find the link to the survey here. Support CITYkeys by testing KPIs

CITYkeys invites yot to test the project's smart city assessment and key performance indicators (KPIs) in order to devise a holistic framework for monitoring, measuring and comparing smart city solutions. The testing phase will take place between July and September 2016. Depending on time and resources, CITYkeys invites you to test either a few KPI's only or the whole performance measurement framework. Find more details here or re-listen the webinar. Survey on open standards: Support ESPRESSO

ESPRESSO (systEmic Standardisation apPRoach to Empower Smart citieS and cOmmunities) prepared two surveys: the first survey focuses on the collection of open standards aiming at the definition of the conceptual standards framework, whereas the second one wants to gather information regarding important use cases. Support their efforts by filling in these two short surveys and foster an open smart city market. Learn more about ESPRESSO here.

SELECTforCities runs final market consultation webinar

Last chance to contribute to the open market consultation of our partner SELECTforCities: During the live Webinar on June 28, from 16 to 18 CEST, you will be able to learn more about the project and you will have the chance to ask questions about specific topics related. Get your solution for the city funded

The FIRE+ project - OrganiCity - is inviting proposals for experiments to run in the three lead cities Aarhus, London or Santander. The open call offers funding of up to 60.000 € to kick start your ideas or projects. The mission of OrganiCity is to test how the cities of the future could offer a service for experimentation with urban data. Proposals must be received by noon (12:00h CET) of June 29 2016 for the fixed open call. Fine more information and other on-going FIRE Open Calls here.
