What's happening at Loutet Farm right now? Weed Pressure. And you can help!

Saturday July 9, 10-noon: Loutet workbee
Wednesday July 20, 5pm-8pm: Blackberry pull at Loutet Farm
Saturday July 23, 10-noon: Loutet workbee

Blackberries are creeping up toward our compost pile! Eeek!
Evergreen is coming back to Loutet to help us remove the encroaching blackberries. You can come help too! Wear long sleeves, long pants and work gloves, if you have some, (we also have some work gloves available!)
Wednesday July 20, 5PM-8PM, Loutet Farm - E 14th Street & Rufus Ave

At Loutet Farm workbees you will:

de-stress by getting your hands in the soil,
chat with amazing, lovely EGP volunteers while contributing to keeping the farm tidy and productive
Get to ask all your garden questions!

Shakespeare in the Garden

Shakespeare in the Garden was a public event held at the Sutherland Schoolyard Market Garden in June. Several of community members and around 10 classes from Sutherland Secondary joined us despite the insane downpours!

William Shakespeare and his consort were in attendance reading sonnets and creating general goofy fun times. The Garden was decorated with inspirational garden quotes and info about sponsors, the building process, volunteer/community engagement and student involvement. The EGP staff gave tours and answered questions.

Shakespeare served lemon cake, soft pretzel buns, and ginger cookies and we sampled carrots, peas, kale, salad, radishes, salad turnips and strawberries, all grown at Sutherland. Students went bonkers over carrots!!! Definitely the fave.

Meet Emma! Our Summer Intern

My name is Emma and I am the Edible Garden Project’s summer intern! I just graduated from Carson Graham Secondary and in the fall, I will be attending SFU to study environmental resource management and sustainability. I am excited to be getting to work with the EGP this summer as I want to gain more knowledge on growing food especially in urban areas and the ways that the EGP does this....read more

They are supporting our workshops, hands-on activities, events, and water conservation demonstration in five Sharing Gardens that feature rain water collection, rain gardens, lawn alternatives, minimizing water use by building soil, and drip irrigation installation.
