OFFICIAL NAZARENE STATEMENT ON TRAGEDY IN ORLANDO:

Our hearts are grieved and saddened by another act of hatred and violence. We extend our sympathy, thoughts, and prayers to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the Orlando, Florida, USA, shooting and to those injured in this incident. We urge our people to reach out in tangible ways to share the love of our Lord with all who are suffering loss in these days.
May the words of Jesus spur us to exemplify His desire for all His children, “A new command I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). In this crisis and others like it, may all we do and say reflect God’s love and compassion.
Serving in Christ’s love,
The Board of General Superintendents

SANCTIFIED PROUD

It sounds like an oxymoron - how can "pride" and "sanctification" be somehow joined?  But it's a manner of speaking in holiness churches when we are just so amazed at something or so happy with someone(s) we just can't hardly contain it.

So it is with over 100 faithful people who are part of the NFCN family that gave over four hours of their time per day last week to serve in our Vacation Bible School.  It was an effective and successful ministry event any way you gauge it.  We are so grateful.

The atmosphere was celebratory every day.  The welcome was warm.  The kids were glad to be there.  And the content was strong, leading children towards biblical truth and a relationship with God.  I don't know you can top that!

We have so many faithful people at NFCN who give so much of themselves, including most of our children's ministry parents who already have child-raising responsibilities at home and yet serve at church also for the advancement of the Kingdom.  We thank God for all of you!
Sunday morning's VBS program during Celebration Worship was so heart-warming to me.  The platform represented our community so well, with the diversity of humanity that we serve.  My dream is that someday in the not-too-distant future that scene from the platform Sunday will be the weekly scene in our children's and youth ministries.

A Diversity Task Force is soon forming, to talk about that very dream!  We will be setting strategies and goals to see more and more people of diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds coming into our church and into relationship with God.

THANKS AGAIN to all of you - you are part of a great vision - you lived it last week - Extending God's love, Teaching Biblical Truth, and Sharing your lives together...and letting our community know "you can find a family here."

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY IN THE COMMUNITY
Volunteers Needed for Davidson County

Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman program advocates for the rights of thousands of residents in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and homes for the aged in Davidson County and 12 additional counties in Middle TN. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is a partner agency with the United Way of Davidson County.  Ombudsman staff consists of two District Ombudsmen and an Ombudsman Assistant, along with 35 trained volunteers. Trained, certified Ombudsman volunteers pay regular visits to these facilities where they spend time with residents, monitor conditions, investigate complaints, educate regarding abuse and neglect and protect residents’ rights. The program offers mediation, complaint resolution, and public education for residents and their families.

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is actively recruiting for volunteers in the Davidson County area. Volunteer applicants must pass a background check and attend a 16 hour in-house training. The next training session will be held August 9 and 10 in Nashville.  Those interested in assisting have until Monday, July 18 to contact the program by sending an email to crudolph@mchra.com or calling 615-850-3918.
