Alex Anwandter Dominates With Album and Award-Winning Film
"Artist poised for U.S. stardom" - TIME
"A gift to our ears" - Perez Hilton
Alex Anwandter continues to dominate 2016 with praise and accolades for both his album Amiga and his award winning film "Nunca Vas A Estar Solo". In both his works, the Chilean pop singer offers a sobering perspective of the ongoing challenges of homophobia and queer life.

Advocating Through Music
Anwandter's album Amiga has received critical acclaim, with the album debuting number one on iTunes and Top 20 on the Billboard Latin Pop charts. The album has been released globally, and continues to make noise.

Anwandter sat down with PRI's The World to discuss his album, shedding some light on its background and themes. As PRI notes, Anwandter uses disco-fused pop music to spread his message, empowering the style of music the LGBT community found refuge in. His lyrics call attention to personal stories of queer life. Anwandter explains,
"Visibility is a very powerful weapon in these discussions. It's basically a performance of oneself. That is one of the most powerful things you can do, being proud of yourself and achieving visibility."

As part of Pride Month, Anwandter made a special stop at KEXP's studios in Seattle for a stripped down performance of a few of his songs from Amiga. His lead single "Siempre Es Viernes En Mi Corazon" made it to KEXP's "Song of the Gay"

An Advocate Through Film  .
Anwandter's directorial/screenwriting debut film "Nunca Vas A Estar Solo (You'll Never Be Alone)" was inspired in part by a hate crime in Chile against a gay youth. The film made its full length international debut at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year where he won a Special Jury Teddy Award, awarded to outstanding LGBT cinema. He also nabbed an award for Best Narrative Feature at the Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival. For the film's US premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival, Anwandter received the Grand Jury Prize. The film continues to make the festival circuit.

Amiga is out globally and available on iTunes and Amazon now!
