Only four weeks left in the regular season and the Wicks Colts players are in a good position heading into finals. The season started in October for the majority of the Colts players, training three nights a weeks with the exception of two weeks for the Christmas break; it has surely been a long season to this point. However all the hard work has given the Colts a platform to give the finals series a real crack. The program is driven by individuals that continue to work hard when no one is watching, doing the extras to improve as an individual so then to be able to contribute to the team. These players are the future of our great Club and if their time in Colts is anything to judge by, our Club continues to have a very bright future.

Though maybe not on paper, Round 14 produced some promising results and confirmed the Club’s intent as we move into finals territory.
Fourth Grade almost clawed their way back after a slow start, just missing out with a 17-14 loss. Special mention to Tom Weber who gave a masterclass in speed and footwork.
Third Grade put up a good fight on the back of a big performance of Declan O’Donahue, but suffered a devastating loss after Uni slotted a penalty goal in the final five minutes to take the game 15-14.
Second Grade followed suit with a narrow 27-17 defeat, and the colts similarly had a rough day.
First Grade was the team that stole the show on Saturday, demonstrating outstanding spirit as they secured a huge victory with a 36-26 win on the back of two meaties snatched by Sam Croke, and some impressive running from the outside backs. The win places the Wicks on top of the First Grade ladder, a spot shared with Uni and Souths (all on 51 points) to make for an exciting finish to the season.
On another note, congratulations to William Munro and Tristan Goodbody who’ve both reached a milestone 50 First Grade appearances in recent rounds, as well as Drew Ferguson and Sam Lolo for reaching 100 games for the club!
Congratulations also to sharp shooters Goose Hiddleston and Andrew Deegan who’ve recently racked up 500 career points and 100 season points respectively for the Myrtle Green.
To the supporters, your enthusiasm and support this year has been fantastic and with only four rounds to go and all grades being contenders for the finals, keep it up to help us get over the line!
A special thanks to the Coogee Bay Hotel who have willingly housed our post-match and other functions in recent weeks.
Next home game is this Saturday, 25 June against West Harbour. See you down there!
