May & June

The month of May and June was  busy at W.TEC. During this period, the following major activities were implemented by W.TEC, setting the bar for new heights of accomplishments:

  • Girls from the W.TEC Academy hosted at G.E
  • Mentorship Lunch for girls of our Academy

Girls in Technology Day at GE

Participants of the W.TEC – Academy, Technovation Challenge, Film-making Club and W.TEC Camp alumnae were invited to participate in a day-long showcase of technology projects and hackathon at General Electric.

Malala Art Contest

W.TEC was selected as one of the participating organisations for this year’s, ''Education for Girls Advocacy Art Contest'' hosted by the Malala Foundation. Our girls performed marvelously producing photos, drawings and poems, for the contest.

Beyond Access - ICT Workshop

W.TEC in conjunction with Intel and IREX organised a 3-day ICT workshop for librarians from S.West, S.East, and S.South of Nigeria, as part of the Beyond Access Nigeria programme.

Digital Marketing Workshop

In May, W.TEC organised a 2-day Digital Marketing workshop for women entrepreneurs, which is part of W.TEC's SHE CAN WITH ICT programme. This was a huge success with subsequent workshops in the works.

Technovation Challenge

Participants of W.TEC's 2016 Technovation challenge were simply amazing. The team of 5 talented girls from Girls Academy Senior Secondary School produced a mobile app. Although they did not make it to the final, the girls are excited about developing more apps.

Girls In ICT Day

To mark this year's ''Girls In ICT Day'' W.TEC organized a career talk event for members of the W.TEC Academy. 80 girls participated in the programme which was a big source of inspiration to the girls.
