July 2016 Newsletter
We begin July with some exciting news: we have been nominated for a Catey Award and are finalists in the Best Newcomer category. The Cateys are considered the Oscars of the restaurant business and we will be heading to London for the awards ceremony where the winner will be announced. Extremely exciting for us all and, even if we don’t win, we are very proud to be in a shortlist of three for such a prestigious award.
We are also proud to announce that The Beehive has been voted as 14th in Britain’s Best Gastropubs of 2016 by The Telegraph newspaper and 14th in the Morning Advertisers Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs 2016, as well as having been awarded the 2016 Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor.
We continue to work on improving standards and our offering to our customers at The Beehive, currently adding a butchery to the kitchen and you may be happy to hear that, in response to your requests, we are finally adding blinds to the restaurant.
We have just launched our new look website, which makes it easier to navigate and brings you our latest news, seasonal menus, events and any interesting news we may have. Visit www.thebeehivewhitewaltham.com
We are planning more guest chef dinners for the autumn, teaming these up with guest wine producers to provide you with the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful evenings of food and wine whilst gaining a little more knowledge and having some real fun.
I have recently enjoyed some delicious wine from Jean-Charles Boisset and Ray Nadeson, both brilliant wine makers; the passion they bring to any wine tasting and dinner will add to the fun and atmosphere to make these evenings very special.
As summer has arrived we have an abundance of delicious produce on the menu, our annual production of elderflower has been made and we are already looking forward to the arrival of Grouse on the Glorious Twelfth. We continue to be inspired by the seasons and the wonderful produce available to us in Britain.
Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to seeing you soon.

Kevin Judd – Greywacke
The Beehive was honoured in June with a visit from the fantastic owner and winemaker of Greywacke. New Zealander Kevin Judd, who made wines for Cloudy Bay for 25 years before deciding to start his own company, visited us to talk about his Greywacke wine and show us some of the other wines he makes.
The Beehive is very happy to be supporting Kevin’s company and we look forward to inviting him back for a Greywacke dinner in the future.
