Chinese move from Tourists to Investors
Chinese tourists could be worth up to $100 billion to the Australian economy by 2025, while making local businesses “China ready” could contribute further economic benefit, the head of the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) has said on May 30. According to the report, 2 million Chinese tourists are expected to travel to Australia each year by 2015.
Surprisingly, 46 percent of Chinese tourists are expected to become repeat visitors returning to Australia to for university, or to invest in a Australian business or real estate.
John Brumby, president of the ACBC, names these travelers an “enormous opportunity” for Australia, and creating an opportunity for Australia to market itself as a provider of high quality goods and services.
In order to capitalize on these tourists, Australia should make a coordinated effort to provide them with the best experience possible. Government should cooperate with local communities and business to promote Australia and adapt to the growing numbers of Chinese tourists.
