VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH  John Moreland

Nominated by a fellow Volunteer, John came to the Birkie after 15 years as a participant.  Since 1998, John has been volunteering instead of skiing - first at the aid stations and eventually as Race Chief for  Aid Station Logistics.  John is the guy who makes certain that each aid station has all the supplies they need at the start of the event, in addition to traveling to the stations north and south replenishing their stock of cups & GU.  Sadly, John has decided to retire from the Birkie.  We are incredibly grateful for the 33 years he has spent dedicating his time and efforts to skiing in or volunteering at Birkie events.   Next time you see John on the road, honk in thanks for his years of service (replica of his WI plate is below)!
