Dear Parents
I had one of those magical days this Thursday which I would like to share with you. One of those days when you wish you were back at school as a child or if that's not possible there is no better job than being a Headteacher!
We started the day with a senior assembly taken by Mrs Grosse's Year 3 class in which we were all part of a live investigation into the popularity of the new ketchup dispenser! We all voted and our results were tallied on the interactive TV by the children and everyone had their say. Democracy in action!
I then headed to the Year 4 hatchery to get an update on the chicks which are currently providing so much learning and excitement in Year 4. Valuable lessons about life cycles, dealing with disappointments and responsibility for a living creature.

On Thursday the Year 5 children were broken into 2 groups to take part in a Lego 'WeDo' workshop. The activity involved building a device designed to pull a heavy load. Celebrating the Queen's Birthday |
On Monday we celebrated the Queen's birthday in true British Picnic Style......in the rain! Fortunately the children did not let the poor weather dampen their spirits. In the morning the children enjoyed royalty themed lessons. Our picnic lunch was changed to an indoor picnic. |

The chicks have hatched! |
We have had a very exciting few days in T1 as 23 of our eggs have hatched into beautiful, fluffy chicks. On Tuesday at 3;47 p.m little Una struggled from her shell; a wet, slimy scrap. By Wednesday morning she was a yellow ball of down and joined in the incubator by 3 playmates.

Reading Cloud |
Following a successful trial with 'Reading Cloud' we have now decided to continue with this for the school library. Years 3 - 6 all have an individual log in to access this from home. This will be extended to the current Year 2 children in September. I do hope the children are continuing to use this resource to inspire them to read more.
This week children will have borrowed their last library book for this year. Please could books be returned to school next week as the stock needs to be audited. The children's library days are as follows:
R - Thursday
Year 1 - LO on Thursday, SK on Friday
Year 2 - EH + RA on Thursday, SL on Friday
Year 3 - Wednesday
Year 4 - JC on Thursday, LK + JE on Friday
I will give the class teachers a list of outstanding loans the following week. If the book on loan has been lost or damaged a replacement can be purchased. A 'used' copy from Amazon is the best option.
