Collaboration is Key to Improvement

“No one teaching strategy will consistently engage all students. The local district is looking for ways to improve instruction for all students. CEEDAR funding provided this wonderful culturally responsive teaching professional development opportunity. K-12 teachers are very excited to learn great suggestions and research-based practices.”
—Principal Sue Galvin

Sue Swenson's Cross State Convening Address

We recently hosted, in collaboration with the IRIS Center, a convening for our intensive technical assistance (TA) participants from across the United States. Representatives from the CEEDAR state teams met to network with a focus on teacher and leader preparation reform and policy levers that can influence improvement and coherence. On the final day of the meeting, Sue Swenson, acting assistant secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), U.S. Department of Education, delivered a riveting keynote address that looked to American history for keys to the future of public education.
