WHAT'S HAPPENING AT EXCEED...

Casa del Valle Residential Facility Happenings...

This month's outings included mani/pedi's, John's Incredible Pizza where they played games and rode the rides, the movies, the TLC dinner/dance and ended with this month's highlight at the Living Desert in Palm Desert. They saw cheetahs, vultures, a snake, and a baby fox in the hospital. All had a great time and enjoyed sharing their adventures with the Administrator upon their return.

Santa Fe (Hemet) ADC Happenings...

This month, our ADC clients enjoyed T.H.E. Center for community service. The clients interacted with animals like horses and goats by feeding them apples. They were also able to help out at the front and restock the snack area. We are all excited to continue doing community service for their center. Other places the clients attended this month were the Devonshire Care Center and they played a round of golf at the Golden Era Golf Clinic with their coaches.

Santa Fe (Hemet) WAC Happenings...

The WAC took the Month of May to work hard on trainings and safety drills.  We had contract work throughout the month with the usual stuffing, labeling and packaging. The new contract we received last month was finished up and we are anticipating shipments of more of that work. We are keeping very busy in the workshop with fitness classes, educational classes, safety classes and drills. As always, we are focusing on positive attitudes and participation of everyone to maintain the best environment for our WAC.

Perris ADC Happenings...

The Perris ADC had a fun month! Our theme of the month is The Sky’s the Limit (Or Is It?). The clients have enjoyed outings to both the Perris and Lake Elsinore skydiving to watch all the brave folks who dare to jump out of a plane.

Also, we have several clients who aspire to have jobs working with animals so those clients got to go to Animal Friends of the Valley in Lake Elsinore. There the clients get to spend time with the animals, which include cats, dogs, bunnies, birds, etc. The clients have even donated food to this shelter as another way to make a contribution.

With Memorial Day being at the end of this month some of our clients made a special visit to the Riverside National Cemetery to pay their respects. This has been a good month for us, and we can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

Perris WAC Happenings...

We may have Spring in the air, but May seemed like a good month to start preparing for Summer.  We reviewed our procedures for keeping everyone cool and comfortable, and also provided training on Heat Exhaustion and other heat related illnesses.  Although we didn't experience any really hot days in May, we made certain that we will be ready for the summer months.

We had a farewell party for two of our clients who started their Supported Employment jobs.   We have another one waiting and ready as soon as his authorization is received.  Our Supported Employment Program in Riverside provided us with two pre-employment skills trainings to help more of our clients get ready to take their place in community employment.   These trainings are a valuable tool in preparing the clients for jobs and helping them feel ready for success.
The Client Council held their annual talent show (contest), and once again we were dazzled and amazed by the serious talent that the WAC clients have.  The votes are in and the winners are scheduled to be announced (and prizes awarded) the first Client Council meeting in June.  There is excitement in the air, and I do believe that the Client Council will decide to have their first meeting of the month in the first week, so that the results can be announced as soon as possible.

Supported Employment Happenings...

There were 4 IRC clients that started working a new job this month. We had 2 clients that transitioned from the WAC to a group and a new client that was placed on a group. There was 1 client that transitioned from group to Individual Placement and 4 clients that moved from temporary employees to employees of AutoZone.

All Individual clients placed are making between $12-$14 per hour.

Average IP wage is $12.52

Average Group wage is $6.52

We have been a very busy bunch here at Mission Grove Supported Employment!

We had a new group start at Golden West homes in which we were able to employ 2 clients, Carlos Medina and Arthur Thurman, who previously worked in the WAC. They were both very excited about this opportunity to work in the community and make more money. Jose Ynez also joined the group after expressing the desire to do something different and have more exposure to the community.

Keith Orta, who works at Food 4 Less in Temecula got accolades from his Supervisor about the fantastic job he does when working the baling machine and making the bales. The manager commented that Keith, "is a valuable employee and we depend on him." Way to go Keith!

Jayzelle White, Roberto Ferrando, Bernice Pedroza and Thomas Staub are all OFFICIALLY AutoZone employees. They worked hard in a group there, then proved themselves as temporary employees to be productive, team players and reliable. AutoZone offered them employment and they can now proudly call themselves, AUTOZONERS!

Thomas Swift recently began a position working in a group at Tech Data Corp. He came to EXCEED with little experience and a true desire to work and earn his own paycheck so that he can become more independent. You are well on your way Thomas.... Congratulations!

Abel Valadez has struggled with his attendance for awhile. This past year his attendance rate has been at 85%. He continues to express that his ultimate goal is to be IP. Goals were implemented to help with this, including increasing the attendance and some Case Management counseling. For the past two months he hasn't missed a day and has shown up early! Way to go Abel... keep striving towards your ultimate goal. Abel was also rewarded with his hard work by receiving a raise for being super productive.

Arthur Hayes recently began working on the Lowe's janitorial group after his previous work contract was cancelled. Turns out this was an excellent change for Arthur. Not only is he really happy with the change he received a raise because he is performing his job duties so thoroughly and efficiently. Great job Arthur!
