Women-able: Promoting women entrepreneurs in the UAE
Promoting Women Entrepreneurs in the UAE, a Women-able initiative powered by Grow.Me in association with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, was launched in March 2016 with the aim of promoting female entrepreneurship in the UAE through training and mentorship.

Over the past three months, the program has supported 60 women to develop new business ideas or scale existing businesses to increase sales, revenue and employment opportunities.

On June 2nd , the Dubai Business Women Council hosted the Women-able Demo Day where 41 women pitched to a panel of judges for the chance to be selected as one of the program’s 25 finalists. The Demo Day was the first pitching event in the eight-month program, aimed to enhance the participants’ public speaking and presentation skills, in order to help them confidently approach customers and potential investors in the future.

On the Demo Day, the judges used various criteria to assess the women’s pitches. The judging panel included a number of Women-able mentors, who evaluated the participants’ ability to articulate the problem they were solving, their awareness of the solutions that already existed in the market, the quality of the solution they were providing and their knowledge of the target market. The participants were also evaluated on their overall performance in the program. This assessment was based on their willingness to fully embrace the idea exploration process, to listen to alternative opinions and to assume an action-oriented attitude toward their business development.

Over the next 5 months, the finalists will be working with coaches and SME experts to drive their businesses forward. Our goal, revenue, growth and financial inclusion to become value drive sustainable businesses in our global economy.
