Dear <<First Name>>,

This week, we will receive the final result from our ballot to re-establish national terms & conditions and protect school funding. If we receive a successful result, our action could help protect current and future generations of teachers, and their students, from a government whose approach to education is fundamentally flawed.

There are a number of simple things you can do this week to help:
  • If you have not done so yet, return your ballot paper today. Every vote counts and your paper must arrive by midday on Wednesday.
  • Speak to your colleagues about our imminent strike action. If we receive a positive result, we will be calling the first day of action during the week beginning 4th July. We need to prepare members in every school for this likelihood.
  • Build confidence in your school by encouraging colleagues to wear green on Friday to show support for the campaign. A number of school groups have already begun this (see below). You can send us pictures directly or post them on social media with the hashtag #greenfridays but most importantly, use it as an opportunity to build confidence among your colleagues that this is a fight we can win.
Any teacher may join the action as long as they are an NUT member by the day of the strike, and they may take their decision at any point up until they begin work that day.

However, you may want to make arrangements with the rest of your school group to work together to build support for the strike and share numbers with your school management to facilitate an early decision on school closure. You should discuss this with your school Representative <<SCHOOL.REP.MAILNAME>> or, if you have any questions, get in touch with Gawain on g.little@executive.nut.org.uk.

Arrangements for the strike day will be confirmed once the result is announced. These will be discussed at a General Meeting for all NUT members to be held at The Fleece in Witney (OX28 4AZ) from 5.30pm on Friday 1st July, followed by a buffet meal. You can confirm your attendance by clicking here:

Please encourage members from your school to join us for this meeting, so we can plan effectively for the first day of strike action, and share the videos below with them:
Kevin Courtney, NUT Deputy General Secretary, explains the importance of the campaign against the government's attack on our pay and conditions of service.
The proposed White Paper, even after Nicky Morgan's climb down, will cause distraction from our main purpose of educating children.
