5 Chairman’s report (NM)
- The 2015 earthquake impact on Community Action Nepal (CAN) was discussed
- Machermo rescue post has been significantly damaged and builders should be there at present.  The aim is to create 2 separate stone buildings and a smaller porter shelter to reflect present use.
- The need for ongoing fundraising was discussed.  CAN have raised £1 million.  In view of time commitments required ongoing fundraising is beyond IPPG(UK) capabilities
- The earthquake appeal event was well received and raised around £2,000
- NM reported on his visit to Nepal in September 2015 and discussed the logistics and difficulties encountered of supply of emergency shelter tents for the Gokyo valley.  Due to delay in transfer of funds into Nepal the lodges had been rebuilt and the need for shelter was identified as being elsewhere.  The tents are now at Malamche school to replace the damaged dormitory accommodation and at Solu village for shelters.
- Photos of the tents in situ are required
- NM met with lodges owners at Gokyo who thanksed IPPG(UK) for building and staffing the new post
- NM met with lodge owners in Gokyo and Machermo who all reported they were happy with IPPG’s work in the valley
- Visits to CAN, KEEP and other relevant organisations were made
- NM met with Sagamartha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) and it was agreed that IPPG(UK) would put together a film on Sherpa culture, porter welfare and altitude illness.  This is to be shown at Namche
- NM met with Buddha to discuss possibility of altitude education by Drs at Namche.  Outcome was that best option for altitude education would be by film above
- Rachel Burke memorial fund discussed.  A scholarship for a Nepal doctor to undertake the Diploma in Mountain Medicine has been established.  The doctor will then spend part of a season working at Machermo.  The first doctor has been selected and will spend part of post monsoon 2016 at the post.  They were selected through an essay written on porter problems and the benefit of time spent at Machermo
- Final aim is to make this scholarship self-sustaining.  Possibility of the mountain medicine community to support
