Accuro Saturday Play Club enjoys day out at Whipsnade Zoo
Children, young people, staff and volunteers from the Accuro Saturday Play Club spent an adventurous day out at Whipsnade Zoo.
The visit was funded by a recent donation.
Deputy Play Leader Dianne Carter said: "We were extremely grateful that we had the opportunity to take part in the Special Children's Day which is a unique annual event at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo welcoming children with special needs and their families and friends.
"The children and young people enjoyed various ‘live talks’ about the amazing animals, a train ride around ‘Asia’ and explored the extensive grounds featuring numerous animals and exhibits.
"One delight of the day was seeing ‘Elizabeth’, an eight-day old elephant calf named after the Queen."
The Saturday Play Club welcomes children and young people with a disability, from the age of six to 16 who live in Uttlesford.
The club is open 42 Saturdays a year from 10am to 2pm using facilities at Dame Bradbury's School, Saffron Walden.
