Join us for the organized session with four presentations and a panel discussion on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Speakers will address prescribed fire as a restoration and management tool. Our presenters represent a wide range of desired outcomes, size of sites, fire history, barriers to achieving objectives, and approaches to monitoring.

Prescribed Fire– Improving Our Understanding and Use of an Important, Imperfect Tool
  • "Twenty Years of Prescribed Fire at Fort McCoy and Its Effects on Invasive Species"
    • David Texley, Invasive Species Research Associate, Colorado State University-Serving Fort McCoy, WI
  • "Lessons Learned Controlling Woody Species in Prairies and Savannas in Southern Wisconsin"
    • Nathan Fayram, Conservation Biologist, Wisconsin DNR State Natural Areas, Fitchburg, WI
