Getting the most out of your Tandem Kayak

When training to paddle in a tandem it's important to get a of the feel for the boat and how well you compliment your partners paddling.

Fleur Pawsey - Trigbagging

We're halfway through the trigbagging season and after his sweep of the Mackenzie Country, plus every peak and then some in his own backyard, Bryan Prestidge is the clear leader. Other notable contenders are Todd Kraiger, Isobel Stout, and the Sneaky Run Team. And what's happened to the two times winner, Jacob Lamont? Well, after announcing his retirement last year, he has absolutely not been trigbagging. So far he has been spotted definitely not bagging at least three trigs that I'm aware of...

So team, there is still a month to go. It's not too late!! Just to up the ante, I'm introducing triple-trig-Tuesdays. Any trig bagged on a Tuesday grabs triple points. And don't forget the prize for most bags in one outing - Odelios Ruegg, after all your early questioning I'm sure you you're hiding something up your sleeve for that one! Don't forget to check out the LINZ website for some inspiration:

Happy trig-bagging!

Tour de France 2016

Our annual TDF competition is underway with and to be honest it hasn't started well for my team (Team Pudding).  Congratulations to Bryan Prestidge who pipped Chris Bennett for the first Friday Coffee Culture prize by being in yellow on the day that mattered.  However the hills are just around the corner and Team Pudding is on the rise - look out!

Check out the schedule and make sure that you book in as numbers are limited. (Summer sessions start at the end of September)

CP Coaches Final Thoughts - The Team

Over the last couple of months I have had the pleasure of leading our Tuesday morning run group at 6.30am.  The first week I was a little intimidated on how cold it might be at that hour on a dark winters morning so I dressed warmly (see left) and made sure that made it early to meet the crew.  As 6.28am ticked over there was only one other car in the car park.  I got myself organised thinking to myself that it might be a quiet morning but all of a sudden there was a flurry of head lights, blurry eyes and keys being thrust my way and it was game on.

Over the coming weeks I quizzed the group as to why they dragged themselves out of bed in the middle of winter to run on a Tuesday morning.  The main reason that came through again and again was the team.  Someone to run with, have a laugh with and know that you will be missed if you didn't make it.

And for me that is what is cool about who we are - the team.
